So, you know what has to happen when a horror film earns acclaim and widespread notoriety, especially when it is of Asian origin? That’s right, we get a remake! However, with a filmmaker like Michel Hazanavicius’ directing “Final Cut,” it should be more than just a capable remake of Shin’ichirô Ueda’s “One Cut of the Dead,” right?

Abram’s live-action “Your Name,” Adam McKay’s “Parasite”-adjacent HBO series, and, most recently, the DiCaprio-starring “Another Round” remake.)

As Screen Daily reports, this trend continues, albeit on a much smaller scale, with French director Michel Hazanavicius’s reworking of the 2017 Japanese cult horror “One Cut of the Dead.” Hazanavicius’s film, titled “Final Cut” (or “Z (comme Z)” in French), has just started principal photography in Paris.

His latest Halloween recommendation? The 1974 slasher film “Devil Times Five,” also known as “People Toys” in certain territories.

Go on Instagram at any point during the day, and you might find your favorite musicians doing impromptu concerts from their bedrooms, comedians doing sets from their couches, and talk show hosts conducting interviews via webcam. And for film fans, we have people like Edgar Wright providing extensive lists of films to watch while we avoid contact with other humans.
