Variety reports that after myriad post-production delays, Netflix won’t complete or release “The Mothership,” a sci-fi movie starring Halle Berry. The film wrapped filming back in 2021, but Netflix won’t finish work on the movie, shelving it permanently.

Netflix may not be the best platform when it comes to promoting its original titles, but when that original film happens to feature a retired assassin played by Jennifer Lopez, odds are you don’t need to put a ton of money into the marketing budget. Audiences have been hungry for more Lopez ever since her scene-stealing turn in 2019’s “Hustlers,” and the seeds planted in that performance – and the subsequent media cycles it inspired – are being paid off in 2023 with films like “Shotgun Wedding,” and now, “The Mother.”

And maybe just zombie ones. Snyder’s best movie since his debut, the zombie film “Dawn Of The Dead” (2004), “Army Of The Dead” is really compelling and deftly navigates a lot of different tones, even if it quickly leaves more interesting ones behind.

It’s an enticing mash-up that raises the stakes to the risks and rewards inherent in both genres. That’s the premise of Zack Snyder‘s latest film, “Army Of The Dead,” set to hit Netflix this May.

“It is a full-blown, balls-to-the-wall zombie heist movie, so it’s genre-on-genre in a great way,” Snyder recently told EW.

Primarily known for his various ‘Madea’ films, the writer-director does sometimes venture off the franchise that put him on the map to tell more straightforward stories. And in his latest, “Nobody’s Fool,” Perry sadly treads on familiar PG-13 comedy territory, but is thankfully saved by yet another strong performance from Tiffany Haddish.
