John Wick may be dead (for now), but Lionsgate‘s hit action franchise lives on with “Ballerina.” The studio drops its first teaser for next summer’s blockbuster starring Ana de Armas today, and from the looks of things, it’s …exactly what “John Wick” fans expected. The interior decor, the clothing styles, and the fight scenes all have the flair of the franchise, only with a woman at the center of the revenge tale this time.

Last week, Kojima Productions announced that a sequel to their highly successful 2019 videogame “Death Stranding” is in development. Now, this week, more news, but on the cinematic front: Kojima will team up with Hammerstone Studios for a film adaptation of the game. And audiences have good reason to be excited because “Death Stranding” already features an ensemble cast that includes some of Hollywood’s biggest names.

If you are a person of a certain age, you probably have quite a history with “The Boondock Saints.” The 2000 film about vigilante brothers taking on bad guys in Boston quickly became a cult hit after its release, with dorms and high school bedrooms all over the US being adorned with posters of stars Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery. And for years after, you had to hear your friends say things like, “Hey bro, did you see ‘Boondock Saints?’ That shit is so cool!” A decade later, the sequel film, ‘All Saints Day,’ was a big critical and commercial bomb, leading many to believe the franchise was gone forever.

Studios are really, really trying to make virtual reality (VR) a thing. Recently, we saw John Travolta starring in a truly odd VR experience/film. Now, it appears that Robert Rodriguez is taking the leap with a new project that allows the viewer to be an active participant in the film. And as you might expect from a Rodriguez project, it’s batshit crazy with over-the-top action.
