Talk about biting the hand that feeds….

Talking on BBC1’s Newsbeat (via MTV) Muse bassist Chris Wolstenholme talked about the difficulty of breaking into the American marketplace and the things that bands must do to get exposure they otherwise wouldn’t receive — such as appearing on the soundtrack to “Twilight: Eclipse” and “New Moon.” “I’m not sure how cool it is to be on those kind of things, but sometimes you’ve just got to get your music out there in different ways,” Wolstenholme said.

We’re less than a month away from the release of “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” much to the excitement of your little sister and mom, and following the release of the lead single from the soundtrack, Muse’s “Neutron Star Collision,” the soundtrack, which hits stores next Tuesday, is now available for pre-order on the record’s official site.

The whole album was streaming on the same site, but now seems to have been taken down (probably because tech-savvy listeners ripped the songs and they are now all over YouTube).

As much as the day-long, roll-out announcement for the “Twilight Saga: Eclipse” soundtrack is hyper annoying, lame and sure to fatigue the very people who want to write about the release (not to mention a cheap way of milking promotion), the music is frankly the only thing that keeps us sort of mildly interested in the vampire franchise.

Even though the soundtracks are basically “That’s What I Call Indie Rock” greatest hits compilations for Wal-Mart, Alexandra Patsavas and her team at Chop Shop have managed to wrangle some great exclusive tracks for the series, with Thom Yorke’s “Hearing Damage” and Lykke Li’s “Possibility” from “Twilight: New Moon” being particular standouts.

So it’s been rumored for a long time that Muse, or at least singer/guitarist Matt Bellamy would be scoring Louis Leterrier’s remake of “Clash Of The Titans” (I think the Playlist staff is divided on this one, this writer is taking a wait and see approach, but we did include it in our Escapist Anticipated piece). Muse admitted that they were asked to write the soundtrack (or Bellamy admitted that he was), but as /Film very recently pointed out, comments from Bellamy in the National Post (and a few other publications) indicated that he just didn’t have the time.

With its March 26, 2010 release date just over two months way, “Clash Of The Titans” still seems to have a lot of pieces to get in place.

Firstly, the madness of our best-of-decade coverage and the holiday season in general, we didn’t report that back in late December, word leaked out that “Clash Of The Titans” was going to undergo reshoots this month. According to Sam Worthington, “We’re going to be going back and shooting more scenes for it, they cut loose with some money so we can add to it.

The trailer for Louis Leterrier’s “Clash of the Titans” has hit the net over at Moviefone, and it promises a lot of dead-serious asskicking. It’s a remake of the 1981 original, but it looks retrofitted to ape the more violent, tight-abbed kineticism of “300.” Sam Worthington, looking, we admit, convincingly badass, is Perseus, son of Zeus, who falls for Princess Andromeda but must go through a gauntlet of gods and monsters to win her hand.

The soundtrack details for Chris Weitz’s “Twilight” sequel, “New Moon,” has been unveiled and it’s indie-tastic.

The disc, due October 20 via Chop Shop/Atlantic (“New Moon” music soundtrack supervisor Alexandra Patsavas’ label), features many rumored/partially-confirmed artists like, The Killers, Grizzly Bear, Bon Iver, Death Cab For Cutie (who wrote the first single) and Muse.

It’s sort of like a Now That’s What I Call Indie Music Perfect For Tweens Who Like Vampires (and that’s basically what Patsavas does well — comps for Urban Outfitters kids).

Aside from being big, bombastic British stadium rock bands that we’d rather not have to listen to, Muse and Kasabian look to have something else in common – they may be moving into the world of film scoring. In an interview yesterday on KROQ’s Kevin & Bean Show, lead singer Matt Bellamy was asked by a fan if he’d ever consider scoring a film, following his soundtrack work on the likes of “Twilight” and “Southland Tales.”

Bellamy responded that, following his work scoring the end credits of Tom Twyker’s “The International,” embedded below and which inspired him to include the orchestral track ‘Exogenesis’ on the band’s new album ‘The Resistance’ (which hits stores today), he may be doing some “vague work” on Louis Leterrier’s “Clash of the Titans” remake.

Nerds turned down dates and going out to make sure they saw this on time (5pm PT). Wait, that’s not true, they never had dates or anything to do.

We digress, the new Zack Snyder-helmed “Watchmen” trailer is up and the Interweb has basically peed their pants.

While visually impressive, it doesn’t feel realistic at all – a different world where slo-mo permeates all. Whatever, the kids love it already. This one appropriates Philip Glass’ famous “Koyaanisqatsi” (from the titular 1982 film, sounds like an updated version maybe) score and Muse’s Glass/Steven Reich influenced, “Take A Bow.“

Look for the shot in the trailer where a mob burns a Superman dummy.

MTV unveiled the soundtrack tracklist for the upcoming tween vampire flick “Twilight,” directed by Catherine Hardwicke (“Thirteen”) and starring Kristen Stewart.

We already knew that the soundtrack would include pop-punk band Paramore, ex Jane’s AddictionPerry Farrell frontman and Linkin Park, and rounding out the 12-track disc are appearances by British rockers Muse, U.S. radio-ready alt-rockers Collective Soul, Mute Math, U.K. electro duo Black Ghosts, indie folk act, Iron & Wine, score composer Carter Burwell and “Twilight” actor and hottie, Robert Pattinson whose version of “Bella’s Lullaby” was replaced, but his rendition of “Never Think” made the album cut.
