First Real Look: The ‘Where The Wild Things Are’ Monsters

Hot damn.

Warner Bros. has given USA Today an excellent first look at some of “The Where The Wild Things Are,” and the first real look at the monsters and there faces. Aside from the ‘Wild Things’ skate photos that came out recently, almost all the photos of Spike Jonze’s live-action adaptation have been of the monsters from behind or semi-obscured, far-away shots, but these are the first true revealing photos. Maybe this means the CGI work — the last missing component of the film — is done or nearing completion?

We don’t really care, but “Monsters vs. Aliens,” comes out March 27, 2009, and evidently “reinvents the classic ’50s monster movie into an irreverent modern day action comedy.”

Whatever. Voices include, Reese Witherspoon, Hugh Laurie (“House,” “Stuart Little”), Will Arnett (“Arrested Development,” “Blades of Glory”); Seth Rogen (“Knocked Up,” “Superbad”); Rainn Wilson (“The Office”); Stephen Colbert (“The Colbert Report”); Kiefer Sutherland (“24,” “Phone Booth”); and Paul Rudd (“Knocked Up,” “Night at the Museum”).

News So Unimportant The Trades Decided To Publish It The Day After The Election When No One Cares (Like They Would Ever)

Trade news is as light as a feather today, cause these publications are highly aware that you’re probably hung over, happy and reading the New York Times instead of movie news. So yeah, most of the news from Variety and The Hollywood Reporter are more inconsequential than usual, almost laughably so. It’s like half these stories were written weeks ago, filed to an editor and that person thought, “Ugh, look at this ham, we’ll save it for the slow, post-Election day.” Without further ado, things you don’t give a rat’s ass about.
