Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-eda is a Cannes Film Festival regular at this point, with five of his last nine features premiering on the Croisette. Last year’s “Broker” did well, too, winning the Ecumenical Jury Award and Song Kang-ho winning Best Actor.

“Broker,” Hirokazu Kore-eda‘s latest film, finally hits US theaters on December 26 after vying for the Palme d’Or at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival. Now, Deadline reports that the Japanese director has his next project lined up: “Monster,” based on a screenplay by TV writer Yuji Sakamoto.

In the same week, Derek Chauvin, the convicted murderer of George Floyd, moves to request a new trial. His lawyer claims Chauvin was denied a fair trial due to the pre-trial publicity.

A film that focuses on a group of Rebellion pilots and is expected to feature a multitude of aerial dog fights, the space battle in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was easily one of the highlights of the film, and I’m sure the new film will expand upon it.
