Mogwai Will Score The Sci-Fi Crime Thriller Kin Starring Jack Reynor & Zoë Kravitz

There have been some stellar collaborations between musicians and filmmakers over the years. The forthcoming feature directed by Jonathan and Josh Baker, “KIN” promises to be no exception. Mogwai, the U.K. post-rockers who have scored the movie, is releasing the official motion picture soundtrack for audiences before the film’s premiere.

Formed in 1995, Mogwai has had a successful career, and this isn’t their first soundtrack; they famously co-scored Darren Aronofsky‘s “The Fountain” with Clint Mansell, the director’s go-to composer, and the Kronos Quartet.

Trailer: ‘Zidane A 21st Century Portrait’

We just mentioned “Zidane A 21st Century Portrait” in our box-office report for this weekend. The film about French futbol (soccer you dolt) superstar is finally (!) coming out in North America which is long overdue for football fans because it was originally released in 2006 in Europe. Can you say slow-burning Mogwai score?

The film is supposed to be fabulous and we’re going to see it tonight. Zizou, as his fans call him, kind of trainwrecked his career on the night of his most important match, his last, when he headbutted Italy defender Marco Materazzi in the final game of the 2006 World Cup.

’30 Days Of Night’: Reitzell’s ‘Daybreak’ and ‘Underture’

Ok, we don’t really care about most horror, but having just heard Brian Reitzell’s brooding and ambient score to “30 Days of Night,” we must admit we’re kind of interested to see this movie just to see how the ominous and sometimes tribally-violent-sounding tracks are used.

The upcoming horror/vampire film stars Josh Hartnett, Melissa George, and the always-intense Ben Foster who is quickly becoming (among with Emile Hirsch) one of the most talked about breakout actors of this year (a “3:10 To Yuma” supporting nomination this year, anyone?)

We digress.

Darren Aronofsky Building Noah’s Ark

The Guardian is reporting that the next movie filmmaker Darren Aronofsky (“Requiem For A Dream,” “PI“) will tackle is the biblical tale about Noah’s Ark. Considering that his high-minded and super-ambitious, but viscerally polarizing, “The Fountain,” contained many religious and existential themes, this news is not totally surprising.

“Noah was the first person to plant vineyards and drink wine and get drunk,” Aronofsky told the Guardian. “It’s there in the Bible – it was one of the first things he did when he reached land.
