We have an exclusive first look today at “ITW Pathway,” a secretive project that is being so closely guarded, the filmmakers themselves are, for now, not revealing their identity.

From what we can tell you, the cast signed on knowing very little about the project, but one thing we can say is that while it does boast a lot of music talent, it is not a music-centered film. “ITW Pathway” boasts a huge cast, including Terrence Howard, Temple Grandin, Rufus Wainwright, Famke Janssen, Will Shortz, Moby, Kent Cullers, Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson, Jorgen Leth, Dave Matthews, Alan Cumming, Rosie Perez, Aimee Mullins, Bob Mankoff and Will Oldham with original music by Yoko Ono.

Given that the upcoming porn biz story “Middle Men” starring Luke Wilson looks just a cut above a direct-to-DVD movie, we’re a bit surprised the film is not only getting an official soundtrack release, but that it boasts a very expensive-looking tracklisting.

The Rolling Stones don’t come cheap, and we wonder how much of the film’s budget was spent on securing two of their biggest songs, “Sympathy For The Devil” and “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.” Musician and vegan Moby gets a couple of cuts with “Honey” and “Body Rock” making appearances, while Outkast and 2Pac keep things street level with their respective hits “The Way You Move” and “California Love.” Some nice oldies tunes by Patsy Cline, Louis Prima and Tito Puente also appear while the likes of George Thorogood, Hall & Oates and Tears For Fears are also in the mix.

Earlier today, we quoted Jay Baruchel singing the praises of the Canadian government’s arts funding system, which he hoped to use to bring his gestating slasher pic “Pig” to life. While this writer, who lives north of border, generally agrees with Baruchel’s sentiments, the fact of the matter is most Canadian feature films are frankly not very good. Whether it’s aiming way too obviously for mainstream audiences or falling down a rabbit hole of their own esoteric concepts, the worst of Canadian films often feature the same rotating cast of actors in projects that would never get past the assistant’s assistant’s desk in Hollywood.

The Daily Swarm, writes about Moby’s new video, “Shot In the Back of the Head.”

“Um…when David Lynch directs an animated video for you it’s automatically important. The man [has] even made making the weather on the radio in L.A. an event for chrissakes.”

To be honest, neither the song or video is groundbreaking, but better David Lynch direct an animated music video for an increasingly-irrelevant dance star than waste our time with his transcendental mediation chatter on Twitter.

The musician who changed the paradigm and broke records on commercial placement of his music, that vegan about Manhattan Moby, is out to bust some new barriers. Variety reports the electronic musician is “offering tracks to indie, nonprofit and student filmmakers for their works via his website mobygratis.com” – yes, that is gratis as in free. If you fit one of those categories run, don’t walk, to the website and give a listen to the unreleased and recycled tracks he’s got up for you.

Remember Richard Kelly and his cult-favorite directorial debut, “Donnie Darko”?

You’ll remember we told you in early September that Moby had composed the score for Kelly’s belated follow-up “Southland Tales” (a film that’s led a troubled life: including studio coldfeet, pushed back releases and a terrible reception at Cannes 2006. Also to note: Trent Reznor was rumored to be composing the score at one point, but actually has nothing to do with the film).

Remember Richard Kelly? Yeah, no one else knows that name either outside of a handful of cine-dorks. He’s the man (boy?) behind the left-field cult hit “Donnie Darko.” Where the hell has he been? [the fucker was 25 when he made ‘Darko’)

Well, he made his ‘Darko’ follow-up, enigmatic sci-fi film “Southland Tales” a long, long time ago. Surely he’s over it (and in fact, he’s moved on to other projects). However, ‘Tales’ is finally getting a belated release this fall and apparently it’s a pretty wacked-out film.
