Kevin Smith made the political horror-comedy “Red State” in 2011 and when he toured around the country, he outlined his overall vision for the movie as a cross between “Quentin Tarantino movie by way of The Coen Brothers.” While such ambitious aims were noble, Smith fell vastly short in the eyes of most (although, its “Burn After Reading,” close-the-file ending with John Goodman, wherein weed saves the day remains great).

Actor, writer, and director Josh Ruben is having something of an indie moment. Known for UCB Comedy, College Humor, and appearing on series like “You’re The Worst” and “Eat Sh*t Kenny Daniels,” Ruben broke out last year with the clever and funny horror/comedy “Scare Me,” that roasted white male privilege. The film was a big hit at Sundance last year and then when it premiered on Shudder.

The line-up for the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival line-up was announced yesterday, and now the promotion begins. One title that already has a release date and release schedule is actor, writer, and director Josh Ruben‘s “Werewolves Within,” which IFC Film is releasing later in the summer. Ruben is known for “Scare Me” and “You’re The Worst,” his latest will debut at Tribeca in June and then come out in proper theatrical release on June 25th theatrically and then On Demand July 2nd.
