After being posted on YouTube, free of charge, Moore and writer-producer, Jeff Gibbs, said that the film is now a victim of a “blatant act of censorship.”

You’re not alone—director Todd Phillips was caught off guard as well, he admitted to a packed theater at an awards/guild screening of his record-breaking film last night. While THR reported that a “Joker” sequel directed by Phillips was in the works following an October 7 meeting with the studio, Deadline quickly pumped the break and said that no such meeting occurred.

Earlier this week, the well-known documentarian caught a screening of Todd Phillips‘s controversial superhero movie at the New York Film Festival. After (seemingly) letting his thoughts percolate for a few days, Moore finally unleashed an essay-length Facebook post about the movie, overtly tying it to contemporary politics and praising the film for its embrace of ’70s classics like “The French Connection” and “Dog Day Afternoon.”

READ MORE: Todd Phillips Explains Why He Left Comedies for ‘Joker’

Clocking in at 1,074 words, Moore’s post is too long to share in its entirety, but this one particular section seems to sum up Moore’s thoughts better than the rest.

Moore’s rhetoric, bluster, and employment of facts have been called into question in the past by his critics, but unlike some of his left and right-wing peers, he generally doesn’t speak recklessly. Moore is passionate, but collected and lays his arguments out like an essay writer and then backs them up point by point — with a steady helping of comedic zingers.

Bush. With his new film, which premieres at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, “Fahrenheit 11/9,” Moore is venturing into familiar ground, as he takes on the current sitting President of the United States with a scathing profile of where the country stands. However, some might be surprised to find what the content of his latest doc actually does and doesn’t show.

He’s long been one of the most vocal opponents to the current President Of the United States, and last fall, even knocked out a quickie documentary of his one-man show, “Michael Moore In TrumpLand” (it wasn’t that great). But now he’s going to go a bit deeper, and hit Trump a little bit harder.

Moore is currently filming “Fahrenheit 11/9,” a flip on the title of his acclaimed “Fahrenheit 9/11,” which obviously references the election month which saw Trump take power.

Much like this week’s misnomer “Jack Reacher: Never Come Back” (he does), there’s a big element of Moore’s ‘Trumpland’ that is essentially false advertising. Those expecting an excoriating takedown of the Republican nominee for President have come to the wrong place.

With three weeks to go until Election Day, Michael Moore (“Fahrenheit 9/11,” “Bowling For Columbine“) has just dropped a surprise new movie with the blunt title: “Michael Moore In TrumpLand.”

Based on his one-man show which he was barred from performing in Ohio, the movie proclaims itself to be “the film Ohio Republicans tried to shut down,” taking viewers “right into hostile territory with his daring and hilarious” production.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have released their 15-strong Oscar documentary shortlist and as usual there are surprises about which titles have made it and which didn’t. Culled from 89 official submissions the films vying for a final five slot are:

“The Beaches of Agnes” directed by Agnes Varda
“The Cove” directed by Louie Psihoyos
“Every Little Step” directed by James Stern and Adam Del Deo
“Food, Inc.” directed by Robert Kenner
“Valentino: The Last Emperor” directed by Matt Tyrnauer
“Burma VJ” directed by Anders Ostergaard
“Facing Ali” directed by Pete McCormack
“Garbage Dreams” directed by Mai Iskander
“Living in Emergency: Stories of Doctors Without Borders” directed by Mark Hopkins
“The Most Dangerous Man in America: Daniel Ellsberg and the Pentagon Papers” directed by Judith Ehrlich and Rick Goldsmith
“Mugabe and the White African” directed by Andrew Thompson and Lucy Bailey
“Sergio” directed by Greg Barker
“Soundtrack for a Revolution” directed by Bill Guttentag and Dan Sturman
“Under Our Skin” directed by Andy Abrahams Wilson
“Which Way Home” directed by Rebecca Cammisa

As usual, the Academy voters are not in sync with audience or critical response as two of the year’s most celebrated docs, James Toback’s moving and insightful “Tyson” and Sacha Gervasi’s incredible rock ‘n roll dream “Anvil!

“Capitalism: A Love Story” is every Michael Moore film that preceded it summed up in 120 minutes. And it’s about as timely as any film released this year, if a little less timely than it would have been were it released, say, late last year.

And hating Michael Moore seems easy on the outside, the dulcet-toned voice seemingly dripping with storybook condescension, the politically partisan angles, the reductive stunts.

But calling Michael Moore duplicitous or a liar seems like its missing the fact that he’s actually quite transparent.

Zombies used to be punk rock. Under the radar, off the grid, and away from the mainstream, most zombie movies only showed modest returns, coupled with cult followings from a small legion of the devoted, and big studios seemed to avoid the lure of spending too much to promote whatever flesh-eating epics they had on the docket. The “Dawn of the Dead” remake seemed to change that, becoming the highest grossing zombie movie in history, which might now be eclipsed with “Zombieland.” The cheap zom-com pulled in $25 million, and has an outside chance of surpassing the “Dawn” remake given that film’s precipitous post-first-weekend decline.
