Earlier today, we reported that the cast for Woody Allen’s upcoming film has been announced and that filming would begin next month. And hot off the heels of that story breaking, the production company behind the new film has confirmed the casting, while also giving us a plot for what will be Allen’s first film since his sexual assault allegations resurfaced and outrage followed.

While the new film doesn’t officially have a title, MEDIAPRO released a statement confirming that Allen’s next film will feature the acting talents of Elena Anaya (“Wonder Woman,” “The Skin I Live In”), Louis Garrel (“The Dreamers,” “A Faithful Man”), Gina Gershon (“Killer Joe,” “Bound”), Sergi López (“A Perfect Day,” “Pan’s Labyrinth”), Wally Shawn (“Shadows and Fog,” “Manhattan”), and Christoph Waltz (“Django Unchained,” “Inglorious Basterds”).

Woody Allen isn’t letting his $68 million suit against Amazon get in the way of making new films. While “A Rainy Day in New York” sits unreleased at the internet giant after the termination of their deal, the director is reportedly partnering with Mediapro for his next film, which he is prepping to shoot in Spain. Based in Barcelona, the company has previously worked with the filmmaker, backing past Allen films including “Midnight in Paris,” “Vicky Cristina Barcelona,” and “Blue Jasmine.”

Writer/Producer/TV Genius David Simon is probably best known for his series about crime and the seedier parts of American life. But for his next TV show idea, he’s turning his focus to an unlikely source. According to Variety, Simon is developing a new series about the Spanish Civil War.

The report states that Simon, who is best known for his series “The Wire” and is currently working on the second season of his new HBO show “The Deuce,” is teaming up with Mediapro to develop a show called “A Dry Run.” The series is said to follow the Abraham Lincoln and George Washington Battalions that were part of the International Brigade that fought during the Spanish Civil War between the years 1937 and 1939.
