If you have seen “Me and You and Everyone We Know,” writer-director-artist Miranda July’s hilarious and poignant 2005 feature, you will instantly recognize the above symbol, which has entered the alternative zeitgeist, become a popular tattoo, and taken a cultural life of its own since then. But there is a lot more to July’s touching portrayal of humans yearning for affirmation and intimacy than the catchiest hook of the film—a collection of interconnected vignettes both shocking and delicate.

And for the month of April, that continues, as the recent Criterion announcement contains a perfect cross-section of titles that shows just how much variety exists in the catalog.

Leading the class of April 2020 is the most recent live-action film from acclaimed filmmaker Wes Anderson, “The Grand Budapest Hotel.” One of the best films of the last decade is finally coming to Criterion and the special edition release is chock full of brand-new extras.

Well, well, well. It’s about time. We’ve been waiting for Miranda July’s new film for about five years now — pretty much ever since she debuted with, “Me and You and Everyone We Know,” a divisive picture to be sure (too twee and precious for some), but one that we listed in our Best Films of 2005 retrospective feature (don’t call us crazy, it won the Cannes’ Camera d’Or in ’05).

Her new project at one point was called, “Satisfaction,” then reverted to an untitled state and now, according to IndieWire has a final title in “The Future.”

MK2 and Britain’s Film4 produced the picture and while it was cast in March of 2009 and then was supposed to shoot in the late summer of 2009, if that timetable indeed stuck it was remarkably off-the-radar.

A one sheet for Miranda July’s next film has been posted on the French Mk2 film website, and it sorta appears that the title of the film has reverted from “Satisfaction” to an now untitled one?

Or maybe they’re trying to confuse us. The page does say, the original title is “Satisfaction,” as previously reported, but the poster says, “Untitled Project.” Perhaps it was made before she had settled on a title, we’re anal about those kinds of confusing and contradictory details though.

Miranda July is making another movie? Yes.

We tried to ask him about it afterward, but got cockblocked from some wealthy, air-kissing sycophants, but during the Q&A following a Brooklyn screening of “Ken Park,” the co-director and lauded cinematographer Ed Lachman revealed his next project would be lensing July’s next film.

Who knew? Like we said, we tried to ask him details, but got disturbed and then gave up, but that was one eye-raising tidbit that came out of the film’s screening (Lachman co-directed Ken Park with perv-cinema auteur Larry Clark and his cinematography work is currently being feted at BAM).
