Amazon has clearly invested a lot of money into creator Matthew Weiner’s upcoming anthology series “The Romanoffs.” The new show, which will premiere next month, follows the stories of a handful of people around the world that all claim to be descendants of the titular Russian royal family. However, the premise is secondary once you see the incredible cast that has been put together.

In the official trailer for the series, it’s a whos-who of prominent film and TV stars.

Anthology series seem to be the TV du jour. Thanks to Ryan Murphy’s hugely successful “American Horror Story,” networks and streaming services are launching more and more anthology series featuring some of the biggest names around. Murphy, of course, also has “Feud” and “American Crime Story,” but he is joined by creators such as Jordan Peele (with no less than two anthologies coming soon) and Steven Spielberg.

In a dramatic teaser trailer uploaded today, Amazon has finally given us an official release date for the “Mad Men” spin-off “The Romanoffs,” an upcoming American anthology web television series.

While the new trailer doesn’t include any footage from the series, it features the names of the dozens of stars who will appear and it’s an utterly stacked cast. From the list shown, “Mad Men” stars Christina Hendricks and John Slattery will be returning, as well as,  Aaron Eckhart, Diane Lane, Paul Reiser, Isabelle Huppert, Corey Stoll, Andrew Rannells, Jack Huston and Amanda Peet.

Last week, Kater Gordon, an Emmy winning former writer on “Mad Men,” alleged that the show’s creator, Matthew Weiner,  “said she owed it to him to let him see her naked” while they were working together one night. Gordon was fired a year later, and she said the experience left her feeling “threatened and devalued.” Weiner denied the allegations, and touted the fact the series had “a predominantly female driven writers room.” However, now another voice has called out Weiner for the toxic work environment he created on the show.

Only two years have passed since “Mad Men” and the saga of Don Draper ended its run on AMC, but the impact was huge. In addition to being at the forefront of what would become known as the new Golden Age Of Television, the drama from Matthew Weiner also helped establish the network as a competitor to HBO which, nearly a decade ago when “Mad Men” launched, was in a much different TV landscape than it is today.
