Amazon MGM Studios‘ “Masters Of The Universe” film has found one of its villains. Deadline reports that Alison Brie will star in the live-action take on the hit ’80s title as sorceress Evil-Lyn, one of arch-bad guy Skeletor’s most trusted allies. Brie joins previously announced cast members Nicholas Galitzine and Camila Mendes in the picture, which hits theaters worldwide on June 5, 2026.

Hell, predating Tim Burton’s world-changing “Batman,” there was “Masters of the Universe.” The 1987 box office bomb starring Dolph Lundgren was a Hollywood attempt to capitalize on a famous cartoon and toy line doomed by a low budget but filled with a ton of heart.

And when you sit back swinging for home runs all the time, you’re likely to strike out quite a bit. That’s the situation that Sony finds itself in, as the studio decides what the hell to do with “Masters of the Universe.”

According to THR, after the recent failure of “Men In Black: International,” Sony is a bit gun shy about investing a ton of cash into “Masters of the Universe” in hopes that it could turn into a huge franchise for the studio.
