The slate is being wiped clean over at Marvel TV. Soon after news that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is assuming the Chief Creative Officer title at the company and gaining control of the TV and publishing arms of Marvel, it appears that the other shoe is beginning to drop, as “Cloak & Dagger,” one of only a few Marvel TV projects still around, has officially been canceled.

It’s the Marvel crossover you’ve all been waiting for. Two of the biggest live-action superhero franchises are teaming up for what is sure to be the event of the year. Oh wait, it’s just “Runaways” and “Cloak & Dagger.” But hey, it could be cool, right?

As revealed in a new video from Marvel, popular Freeform series “Cloak & Dagger” and Hulu’s “Runaways” are going to have a crossover episode in the upcoming Season 3 of the latter, which is released in December.

In all the noise about Netflix Marvel shows (R.I.P.), the other MCU television series on Freeform, Hulu and beyond tend to get a little lost–even if they’re better. The first season of Marvel’s “Cloak and Dagger” received critical acclaim, though not as much audience attention as superhero shows on Netflix. But now the series is set to return for its second season this spring on Freeform, and the teen-focused network has just released the first trailer.

An estimated 500 scripted seasons of TV will air in 2018, and to help you sort the wheat from the chaff, we’re going to give you the lowdown to help you work out whether it’s worth tuning in every week for them or waiting to binge later. 

It may be time for Marvel to throw in the towel when it comes to producing television shows, a domain, unlike the big screen, where they’ve consistently underwhelmed, beginning with the unbearably dull “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season one of “Daredevil” was fine and season two might’ve come out relatively unscathed had they pulled the plug on the Karen and Foggy characters (the “Punisher” introduction and those episodes are solid, no doubt).

That’s the case for Tyrone Johnson and Tandy Bowen, two superheroes who met as teenage runaways and learned that they depend on each other to survive. Literally. Johnson, who goes by the name of Cloak, has the ability to move between this world and a dark dimension but relies on human energy to survive.
