Christmas came early for Marvel fans last night and also, maybe so much for the superhero studio’s claim of scaling back and “less is more?” Yesterday evening, eagle-eyed fans spotted a new “Coming To Disney+” teaser in front of episode one of “Agatha All Along,” that quickly made its way online. And while Marvel has shied away from giving away too much information lately, less announcements at Comic-Con and D23 than expected, the studio really gave up the ghost of its future TV plans.

Following the faceplant and failure of “The Marvels” last November—Marvel’s lowest-grossing film of all time and their first big bomb—pundits were seemingly writing an early epitaph for Marvel Studios. But three Marvel cycles later, the super-well-received “What If…?” season two in December, the much-better-than-anticipated reception to the live-action “Echo” series in January, and the glowing reviews of “X-Men ’97 (currently sitting at 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes currently, read our review), things definitely appear to be on the upswing for Marvel.

Here is our Most Anticipated TV Shows & Mini-Series of 2024 (The Strike-Affected Edition!) feature. 2023’s WGA/SAG-AFTRA/AMPTP strikes were essentially the COVID-19 of 2020. While thankfully, they weren’t as physically deadly, the work stoppage did significantly affect many people in the business and their financial stability. What ties them both together more closely is the disruption of content and product. With streamers already cutting back, regressing on the streaming boom thanks to Wall Street’s reevaluation of their worth, and the strikes delaying a lot of shows for an entire year, the #AgeOfTooMuchContent might officially be coming to a close.

Those awaiting several trailers from Marvel’s animation panel at Comic-Con were disappointed this afternoon; of all the various shows in development, the only trailer that arrived was the just-released “I Am Groot,” starring Vin Diesel’s “Guardians of The Galaxy” character.

It’s Disney+ Day—and a Marvelous one at that! To celebrate the anniversary of the Disney+ launch, Disney is pulling out all of the stops to make sure everyone knows that it’s really going to bring the content in 2022, which includes a hefty amount of new Marvel Studios shows. Throughout the morning Disney and Marvel social media channels were buzzing with nifty new title cards to set nerd-dom on fire, finally culminating in the release of a 15-minute Marvel Studios Disney+ Day 2021 video that included recaps of the shows already released and a sizzle reel of what’s in store for fans in the next year.

Marvel Studios is looking to do more to flesh out the cosmic side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Still, it looks like they’re planning on doing more to tackle more horror/supernatural corners. A new report from The Wrap mentions that the studio is moving forward with an untitled “Halloween Special” for Disney+ with production to begin next year and are looking to a Latino actor in their 30s to possibly play Werewolf By Night, a horror superhero.

I’m sure if you rummaged around Ben Wheatley‘s office, you’d easily find a half-dozen scripts or so. The filmmaker always has multiple irons in the fire, partly out of an endlessly creative spirt, but also to ensure he’s always got a project to pivot toward. So far, Wheatley’s filmography has been made of movies (almost) entirely from his own brain, and as he’s shown with upcoming “Free Fire,” he knows his way around grand setpieces.
