We’ve been going on several times about Jon Favreau and company shooting “Iron Man” and its sequel with no script whatsoever, but it’s taken The Dude to confirm this interesting nugget, in spectacular detail. In a pretty engaging interview with In Contention about his Oscar vehicle “Crazy Heart,” Jeff Bridges opens up about the studio’s lackadaisical filmmaking methods.

Bridges says, “They had no script, man. They had an outline. We would show up for big scenes every day and we wouldn’t know what we were going to say.

Akira Remake Lands New Writers, Nicolas Cage Jumps Onto ‘Hungry Rabbit’

– Warner Bros. still seem keen on pushing ahead with their unnecessary live-action “Akira” remake. Collider are reporting that Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby have taken over scripting duties. As CHUD rightly points out, Alfonso Cuaron was responsible for much of the “Children of Men” script, which the duo were credited with, but they pretty much nailed “Iron Man,” so if it has to be written, there are worse guys to be doing it.

Hulk to Be Villain in ‘Avengers’ Movie?

Following the success of “Iron Man” and the mediocre returns of “The Incredible Hulk,” Marvel Studios has set the ‘Avengers’ movie in motion.

The film won’t come out until the summer of 2011, after the upcoming Marvel projects, “Iron Man 2,” “Thor,” and “Captain America” are released. None of this is new, but what is relatively new, is that the Hulk character himself could be the villain in the ‘Avengers’ movie.

Louis Leterrier, the director of the recent ‘Hulk’ suggested the same earlier this year.

Zak Penn Knocks Ed Norton For Taking ‘Hulk’ Writing Credit; Talks ‘Avengers,’ Plus More Marvel Updates

If you don’t know Zak Penn, well he’s basically the go-to guy for comic book adaptations. He’s written some good ones (“X-Men 2”) and some pretty bad ones, or at least films that ended up being pretty terrible (“Fantastic Four,” “Elektra,” “X-Men 3”). He also wrote this year’s “The Incredible Hulk” and got into a scuttlebutt a few short months ago when he and star Edward Norton, who did a page-one rewrite on the script (dialogue, not plot points), got into an arbitration battle with the screenwriters guild over who should get screenplay credit.
