And with all due respect to titles like “Blinded by the Light,” “The Farewell,” and “Ready or Not,” things are certainly looking up from the rather abysmal last two months.

Titled “The Day Shall Come,” the movie, which made its world premiere at the SXSW Film Festival earlier this year, is pitched very much in the same political/satirical vein as his previous film. However, this time, the film, while still laceratingly funny, has a darker tone ultimately, and looks to examine the way law enforcement in the U.S.

But what keeps the film mostly on track is its proudly confrontational nature, quick-witted dialogue, and performances to match.
