Which films are culturally, historically or aesthetically important enough to be preserved for future generations? That’s the question the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress grapples with each year, as they comb through over one hundred years of cinema to determine which titles will enter their vaults, and in 2016 they were definitely keen on crowd-pleasers and films by noted auteurs.

Wes Anderson‘s “Rushmore,” Rob Reiner‘s “The Princess Bride,” John Hughes‘ “The Breakfast Club,” and Robert Zemeckis‘ “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” were all selected.
