His name is “Machete,” and in the new film from Robert Rodriguez and Ethan Maniquis, he’s not the type that will suffer fools. A mean ex-Federale with scores to settle after betrayal at the hands of his own government, Machete only has revenge to live for.

As befitting the modern action film archetype, Machete isn’t an entirely fleshed-out character.

Lindsay Lohan Is Out Of Jail, So It’s Time For New Stills From That Linda Lovelace Biopic ‘Inferno’ To Hit The Web

After serving thirteen days in solitary confinement, Lindsay Lohan was released from jail earlier today and is headed to rehab. So what better time for photographer Tyler Shields to flog some of the leftover stills from his photo sessions shooting the actress for some of the early artwork in accordance with (we presume) the still forthcoming Linda Lovelace biopic “Inferno.”

The project, which at one time was interesting enough to have the likes of Anna Faris and Sam Rockwell attached, is now striving forward with Lohan in the lead role (despite her legal woes) and Matthew Wilder directing.

After everyone furrows their brows and ponders Darren Aronofsky’s forthcoming ballet world thriller “Black Swan” (ok, we can’t wait to furrow our brows either), the Venice International Film Festival will unspool Robert Rodriguez’s slice-and-dice grindhouse flick “Machete” in a special out-of-competition midnight screening.

With Quentin Tarantino heading up the jury this year, maybe it’s not a total surprise to find “Machete” slotted into the mix at Venice, but its still fascinating for the fest to giving screentime to a completely unapologetic genre flick.

So, the red band trailer for the “Grindhouse” spinoff “Machete” has finally landed and wow, what a difference blood, boobs and a few well placed f-bombs make.

The brand new spot introduced by Robert Rodriguez gives us our first real taste at what to expect from the film, and it definitely will push things right over the top. Yep, that’s Machete (Danny Trejo) using someone’s entrails to jump out a window and swing onto the floor below.

Last week six pretty badass new “Machete” character posters arrived online for our viewing pleasure. Featuring Danny Trejo’s eponymous Machete, Bobby De Niro as The Senator, Don Johnson as Lt. Stillman, Steven Seagal as Torrez, Michelle Rodriguez as She and Jessica Alba as Sartana, they helped kicked off the “Machete” marketing machine in a big way (though we’re still slightly puzzled that the film is skipping Comic Con).

Now, we have our first look at jailbound Lindsay Lohan playing The Sister.

Official Trailer For Robert Rodriguez’s ‘Machete’ Arrives

With the flurry of “Machete” imagery hitting the web last night and this morning, you knew it was only a matter of hours before the trailer to Robert Rodriguez’s new grindhouse style B-movie would hit online and well, as expected, here it is.

It screened a few days ago during press screenings of the Rodriguez-produced, Nimrod Antal-directed “Predators” and it’ll also be in front of that film when it hits theaters tomorrow.

Frankly, we don’t love it like we loved the Cinco de Mayo trailer and couldn’t Fox give the trailer to a site that actually has, you know, a quality player?

The Robert Rodriguez produced “Predators” hits theaters tomorrow, so we shouldn’t be too surprised that the marketing for his next project, the grindhouse feature “Machete,” has kicked into high gear.

Seemingly every fanboy-ish movie site got their own exclusive lobby cards/stills to run from the film yesterday (most of which we’ve compiled here) giving us a fresh peek at what’s in store and a new “Machete” trailer, which has been playing in front of some screenings of “Predators,” will most likely hit the web by the weekend.

So presuming Lindsay Lohan doesn’t go to jail for violating parole (she’s a celebrity — sort of– so she won’t) she’s still attached to star in “Inferno” a biopic for notorious “Deep Throat” pornstar Linda Lovelace. Some details from the script have leaked and they are interesting to say the least. Apparently “child abuse, three orgasms, two beatings, intense humiliation and a bloody car crash” all happen within the first 32 pages. Despite the front-loading of some salacious material, the script is apparently very good, drawing comparisons to “Boogie Nights.” It’s now up to director Matthew Wilder to make the magic happen, but don’t hold your breath.

Earlier this month, we reported that drug-and-alcohol monitored actress Lindsay Lohan had signed to play Linda Lovelace in the upcoming biopic “Inferno.” Lovelace is the porn star who gained notoriety for her role in “Deep Throat,” one of the most notorious porn films ever made. “Inferno” will visit how Lovelace became involved in the industry and her ultimate departure from it when she became involved in the anti-pornography movement before her untimely death in 2002.

Look out Arizona: Machete has your awful anti-immigration law in his gunsights.

The first “illegal” trailer for Robert Rodriguez’s “Machete” has been unveiled on Cinco De Mayo and, as promised, shows the no-holds-barred, old-school-Rodriguez Mexploitation pic we were all expecting.

The film follows the exploits of Machete Cortez (reprised by Danny Trejo) who finds himself double-crossed and left for dead. He must then band with a gang of misfits including his Federale-turned-priest brother (Cheech Martin), a socialite with a taste for guns (Lindsay Lohan) and a saucy taco slinger (Michelle Rodriguez) to fight back against the businessman who betrayed him (Jeff Fahey) and the corrupt senator behind new Anti-Immigration laws (Robert De Niro).

Robert Rodriguez’s ‘Machete’ Gets A September 3rd Release Date

After a bidding war that saw 20th Century Fox emerge victorious (and seemingly the new studio where the filmmaker can lay his cowboy hat), Robert Rodriguez’s “Machete,” co-directed with his longtime editor Ethan Maniquis, is now set for a September 3 release date.

The picture was shot last summer, but will be beaten to the screen by a Rodriguez picture that was shot afterwards (see below, “Predators”). But it’s all relative, really and that’s a normal turn-around (also, shooting two pictures at once isn’t easy).

Sorry Lindsay Lohan, Quentin Tarantino Probably Won’t Save Your Career

About the only thing we can imagine Quentin Tarantino and Lindsay Lohan collaborating on would be a booze and drug-filled binge somewhere south of the border in a bar operated by vampires.

Not so! says the interwebs, who speculate that Tarantino has a horror movie project with a “hardcore” role in mind for Lindsay.

Apparently Robert Rodriguez, collaborator on “Grindhouse” and longtime pal of Tarantino, was so wowed by Lohan’s performance on the set of the upcoming “Machete” (we have good reason to doubt this, as we hear a machete is being taken to most of her scenes) that he recommended her to Quentin.

Alright, finally we can report it. The final cast for Robert Rodriguez’s “Machete” is done and finally out there.

It looks like this according to DealMemo:

Danny Trejo is playing the title character and Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Steven Seagal, Lindsay Lohan, Cheech Marin, Don Johnson and Jeff Fahey play supporting roles.

Notice that they don’t mention Jonah Hill. That’s cause we know for a fact, he dropped out last week (or rather just turned down the role he was offered; he sounded iffy early on).

Looks like the rumors were spot on again. Robert Rodriguez has revealed that Lindsay Lohan has a role in his upcoming film “Machete” if she wants it. It’s just sitting there waiting for her. Lohan’s project radar isn’t exactly highly attuned – she turned down “The Hangover” after not digging the screenplay.

“There’s a cool part for her if she takes it,” the director said. Also confirmed is Michelle Rodriguez. But seriously, even if this movie is hot-stinking garbage wouldn’t you think Lohan would have signed up without even reading the script considering her toilet-circling career trajectory of late?
