Despite his already epic, nearly eight-hour docuseries, “The Beatles: Get Back,” getting released in 2021 (read our review), filmmaker Peter Jackson’s obsession with the Beatles is not quite over. The filmmaker has restored “Let It Be,” director Michael Lindsay-Hogg’s original 1970 film about The Beatles, and Disney+ will release the movie on May 8, 2024, the first time the film has been readily available in 50 years.

It appears that Peter Jackson isn’t done playing around with the documentary genre, just yet. After a successful attempt at a documentary with last year’s “They Shall Not Grow Old,” which saw the director use cutting edge technology to breathe life into hundred-year-old archival footage from World War I, Jackson is bringing those same techniques to The Beatles.

According to THR, Jackson has agreed to do a documentary about The Beatles, utilizing the 55 hours of footage that was recorded during the Let It Be sessions in 1969.

We even asked, does this mean “Let It Be” will come out soon? When we went to a screening of the remastered film the publicist told us that the “Let It Be,” “Magical Mystery Tour” and the rest of the outstanding Beatles films were all planning to be rolled out onto DVD with “Let It Be” hopefully aiming for a 2008 release.
