For years now, Broken Social Scene founder Kevin Drew has expressed a the wish to converge his cinematic ideals and his musical output. He started in 2003 by co-directing a good chunk of his indie-rock collective’s videos with partner George Vale.

So not surprisingly he’s made further good on this promise by directing a short film (in the style of a music video) set to Feist’s “The Water” that stars Leslie Feist, Cillian Murphy and Canadian actor David Fox.

Everyone loves a twist in their movies (really?), but all to often the attempts fall flat as a decent movie goes sour with cheesy turns that leave you angry and feeling that two hours of your life have just been flushed down the shitter. Here at The Playlist we thought it was about time to look back on those films that in their attempt to be clever and shocking fell flat on their over budgeted faces.

The genius fright auteur M. Night Shyamalan just doesn’t know when to shut up, especially to the New York Times, who really haven’t been all that kind to him in recent years. That last profile they did on him was pretty damning and made him sound and look like whiny, primadonna.

Their latest profile on the director isn’t too flattering either and come accompanied with the pretty sarcastic title, “Shyamalan’s Hollywood Horror Story, With Twist,” and notes how he’s compared himself to Hitchcock and Spielberg in the past (not to mention briefly recaps the aforementioned profile where he battled with Disney for not recognizing his genius; he was so cheesed about it, he wrote a fucking book about it, accusing Disney of not giving his “Lady in the Water” script “a truthful reading” and added that he believed the movie was rejected because the studio “no longer valued individualism.” Oh god, fucking crybaby.).

M. Night Shyamalan is not well loved by film critics.

The guy’s oh-so-scary films are about as frightening as your grandmother’s gin rummy games (oooh, a twist ending!) and the notorious narcissist has had the audacity to not only cast himself as the “brilliant and misunderstood” writer of the alarmingly vile, “The Lady In The Water,” but he also basically commissioned a shrill and whiny propaganda book about why mean ol’ Disney couldn’t understand the genius of the aforementioned film, called “The Man Who Heard Voices: Or, How M.
