“The Good Wife” is one of those cable shows that I heard was good, but somehow seven seasons passed by, I never watched it, and the series said farewell last spring. But for fans of the show, something new is on the horizon with the spinoff “The Good Fight,” and the new trailer promises a legal procedural with a twist.

With this year’s “Life During Wartime” proving to be not only a worthy follow-up to its predecessor 1998’s “Happiness,” but also director Todd Solondz’s best film since then, we were glad to hear a few weeks back that the not-exactly prolific helmer was moving forward on another project. “Dark Horse,” described as an ‘edgy character drama,’ was first revealed when we talked to Solondz earlier in the year, and recently, while no details on the plot leaked out, Aasif Mandvi (“The Daily Show”), Justin Bartha (“The Hangover”) and theater veteran Jordan Gelber were rumored to be appearing in some form.

Justin Bartha May Join Aasif Mandvi in Todd Solondz’s New Drama, ‘Dark Horse’

When we last spoke to Todd Solondz earlier this year about the making of his latest, “Life During Wartime,” the indie filmmaker told us about his upcoming new picture, “Dark Horse.”

Unfortunately at the time, the director could not divulge details about the plot, nor could he reveal the actors he was in discussions with, but as a hint, he did say, “I’m not saying [it’s a] gentler [picture], but I don’t think it’s controversial,” he said.

Ok, this project is starting to smell like unwanted goods at the moment.

The merry go round of actors on McG’s action romantic comedy for 20th Century Fox, “This Means War” keeps going round and round.

In development for over ten years (never a good sign), with the likes of Martin Lawrence and Gore Verbinski previously attached the story involves two spies, and best friends who fall in love with the same girl (Reese Witherspoon has been cast and is the only one provisionally attached at the moment).

‘Holy Rollers’ Team Set To Reunite For New York-Set Crime-Thriller ‘Kings Highway’

The director-writer-producer team behind Jewish-drug drama “Holy Rollers” will evidently be reuniting for crime thriller “Kings Highway,” which will shoot on location in New York.

Kevin Asch, Antonio Macia and Danny A. Abeckaser will re-team for the story that follows a disgraced former Mossad agent who moves to New York in the mid-’80’s and falls in line with a burgeoning Israeli crime syndicate. It sounds pretty much like an extension of their first collaboration; the story of a group of Hasidic Jews and their ecstasy trade in the ’90’s, which starred Jesse Eisenberg, Justin Bartha and Q-Tip and will hit theaters this weekend after drawing mixed reviews from its run at this year’s Sundance.

Arguably, the best “scene” in all of Todd Philips’ break-out hit comedy, “The Hangover” — that made bonafide stars out of Zach Galifianakis and Bradley Cooper, and to a lesser extent Ed Helms — is the closing credits.

The gutbustingly hilarious, hard R-rated section of the film imbues everything that the “what stays in Vegas” mantra represents, only it hasn’t stayed in Vegas. It’s on the screen, it’s outrageous and it’s presented in photo form, as the characters find their digital camera and find out exactly what happened to them when they blacked out in Sin City.

Last we all heard, if and when a ‘Hangover’ sequel happens, spring 2010 was said to be the target date.

But in more recent interviews with star Bradley Cooper, the actor has been making the rounds overseas saying the picture won’t be shot until two seasons later. “We’re going to shoot it next fall… We’ve gotta go to space or something. Some weird thing’s got to happen.”

“We’ll probably lose [Justin Bartha’s character] Doug again.

Man, now that “The Hangover,” is the bonafide surprise success of the summer — two number one box-office slots in a row; $105 million total and climbing after two weeks — the sequel is right around the corner, right?

Late Friday, director Todd Phillips told MTV that Spring 2010 is their hopeful start date, but this was before ‘Hangover’ topped the b.o. twice in a row which is a pretty amazing feat for an R-Rated comedy (it’s $105 million total set a new record for an R-rated movie reaching the $100 million mark in 10 days; “Sex & the City” took 11).
