‘Han Solo’ Spinoff Finds A Composer

With the still untitled Han Solo spinoff movie now back on track with Ron Howard behind the camera, it seems that the rest of the creative puzzle is being put into place. A composer has been found for the film, and it’s someone new to the “Star Wars” universe.

“The Star Wars Show” reveals that John Powell will tune up the adventures of young Han Solo.

Exclusive: John Powell’s Score To Doug Liman’s ‘Fair Game’ Hits October 26

British composer John Powell has written the scores to all of Doug Liman’s films so far, including “The Bourne Identity” and set the thrilling musical tone for the entire ‘Bourne’ series (and several Paul Greengrass films), so it’s no real surprise he’s also done the music for Liman’s upcoming political drama, “Fair Game.”

The film retells the true story of undercover CIA Agent, Valerie Plame Wilson (played by Naomi Watts), who was outed by the White House in 2003 in an effort to discredit her journalist husband, Joseph Wilson (Sean Penn), who had written a piece in the NY Times saying the Bush Administration had manipulated intelligence about the W.M.D.

In lieu of a proper review cause we didn’t have time to write it today, here’s a little music preview of Kimberly Peirce’s newest film, the post-Iraq-war soldiers drama,”Stop-Loss” (it’s surprisingly good).

Many have noted and appropriately called us out on our knee-jerk reaction to the use of meathead metal rockers Drowning Pool’s “Bodies” in the trailer which we originally thought was a little crass considering soliders and innocents were dying and all, but as you guys so tigerishly pointed out, “Soliders listen to that kind of shit; it’s very appropriate, shut the fuck up.” Ok, point taken.
