As technology moves forward, there will always be those who try and keep the old ways of doing things alive. While typewriters aren’t quite on the same level as vinyl, the clunky, awkward machines are still used to this day by writers, artists, and even in offices, offering people a more tactile and intimate experience, that tapping at your keyboard. In the new documentary “California Typewriter,” the old school medium gets its chance to shine.

Jay-Z Concert Documentary ‘NY-Z’ Gets A Trailer, Will Debut Online March 22

Jay-Z cemented his love for New York City with last year’s smash hit “Empire State Of Mind” and the city (and pretty much the rest of the country) loved him right back. Now the dealer-turned-rapper-turned-mogul is ready to show some more of that love with his forthcoming concert documentary “NY-Z.”

Directed by concert documentary veteran Danny Clinch, the film captures the rapper’s September 11, 2009 Madison Square Garden benefit concert for Answer The Call.

John Mayer, Judd Apatow, Martin Starr, Kristen Bell: Let’s Do This

We saw this a couple days ago and shrugged. Whatever, John Mayer, right? But then we realized it was directed by Judd Apatow and stars “Freak & Geeks” alumni Martin Starr and “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” belle and new Apatow-gang member Kristen Bell.

But most of all? And we kinda knew this, but hated to admit it? For a guy who writes such terrible music, John Mayer is kind of a really funny motherfucker, dude is really self-aware and he plays a parody of himself, really, really well.

After 40 years of being rock’s biggest asshole Velvet Underground leader, current tai-chi and mediation-music enthusiast Lou Reed is finally starting to soften. Reed has composed two songs – “Gravity” and Safety Zone” – for the upcoming film “Nanking“–a documentary about the Japanese invasion of Nanking, China, in the early days of World War II. The press release calls it “an emotional reminder of the heartbreaking toll that war takes on the innocent.” We hope the songs are as good as his new-age-y yoga album, Hudson River Wind Meditations.
