And yet, still, the trio of Nicole Kidman, Zac Efron, and Joey King create an interesting dynamic; the ultimately well-intentioned film has some interesting things to say about late-in-life love, the many facets of self-absorption, and the way we use the notion of protecting the ones we love under the guise of selfish self-interest.

But the truth of the matter is that good storytelling, like the original “Star Wars” movies or classic Pixar movies, works for and engages the hearts and minds of all audiences and not just children. The one exception to the rule might be the sometimes impossibly silly and zany “Despicable Me” franchise which is arguably generally geared at children only with its Minion mania chaos of fart jokes, pratfalls, burps, things that explode in your face, and pandemonium that’s more akin to classic “Tom & Jerry” or “Looney Toons” cartoons without the cleverness or elegance.

However, not all fairytales have happy endings. From Vietnamese-born action filmmaker director Le-Van Kiet, “The Princess” takes all you know about classic fairytale stories and turns it on its head. The R-rated movie, overseen by 20th Century Studios, will feature Joey King playing the princess. King is known for her roles as Gypsy Rose Blanchard in “The Act” (2019) and “The Kissing Booth” (2018).

Because on top of starring Brad Pitt and a slew of interesting, top-shelf actors, the action thriller just added Sandra Bullock to the cast. The movie—which centers on five assassins who find themselves on a Japanese bullet train, realizing that their individual assignments are not unrelated to the others—also stars Joey King, Andrew Koji, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Brian Tyree Henry, Zazie Beetz, Masi Oka, Michael Shannon, Lady Gaga, Logan Lerman, Hiroyuki Sanada, Karen Fukuhara, and rapper Bad Bunny.

The U.S. was running on fuel, booze, silent comedies, and loud music, as well as this little thing called radium. From the 1910s through the ’20s, American Radium sold glow-in-the-dark wrist-watches made out of (you guessed it!) radium. Workers, mostly women, were exposed to tremendous amounts of radioactive material and were even asked to lick their brushes before painting each watch.

The film stars Dakota Johnson, Shia LaBeouf, and Zack Gottsagen and might very well be the most heart-warming, sweet film of 2019. And that is due, in large part, to the filmmaking duo of Tyler Nilson and Michael Schwartz. Now, it appears that the duo is aiming to replicate that success with their upcoming comedy series, “The Wildest Animals in Griffith Park.”

For a group of young women in the 1920s, that demon was none other than a seemingly harmless ingredient. In a time where war was ever-present and a woman’s drive to succeed often quenched beneath the usual ideals, these young women fought to work at a factory and instead faced death itself. “Radium Girls” tells the true story of these brave women who fought their bosses as well as the government to prove workers across the country mattered.
