Last week, the trades revealed details about “The Department,” a new espionage political thriller series based on the critically acclaimed hit French drama “Le Bureau des Legendes.” Michael Fassbender was cast in the lead role, and the series came from George Clooney and Grant Heslov’s Smokehouse Pictures shingle. While early reports said Clooney would direct, a new Paramount+ announcement revealed that he’s just executive producing the project and Golden Globe and multi-BAFTA winner Joe Wright (“Pride and Prejudice,” “The Darkest Hour” and “Atonement”) will direct the series instead.

Ethan Hawke‘s recent foray into television has gone well so far. First, he nabbed a Golden Globe nomination for his role as abolitionist Jim Brown in Showtime‘s “The Good Lord Bird.” And he also looked like he relished chewing scenery in the Disney+ show “Moon Knight,” where he played cult leader Arthur Harrow. Now, Hawke returns to Showtime with a new limited series about a cop whose life threatens to fall apart when a murder case involving his past unfolds.

Production has officially resumed on James Mangold‘s “Indiana Jones 5” after star Harrison Ford injured his shoulder during fight training, and there has been another fantastic addition to the already stellar cast.  Oscar-nominated actor Antonio Banderas (“Pain & Glory“) has been tapped for an undisclosed, according to a report from Deadline.

The trade also mentions that director James Mangold is getting some help on the script as “Edge of Tomorrow” screenwriters Jez Butterworth (“Spectre,” “Black Mass“) and John-Henry Butterworth will be co-writing with the filmmaker.
