There was an expansion to cable television, allowing children to watch cartoons or sports fans to watch ESPN all day long; televangelists started broadcasting their beliefs to thousands; MTV redefined the music industry; and success was no longer defined as having a good education, job, or loving family, it was defined by your appearances, how elegant your home was, or what clubs you belonged to.

But the new Freeform series, created by Bert V. Royal and produced by, among others, Jessica Biel and Max Winkler, discards stereotypes and tropes, at least those concerning character, in favor of a modernized portrayal of teenhood.

Not sure this is the type of publicity Biel was going for when she asked everyone to watch her new streaming show this fall.

Yesterday, the actress posted a tongue-in-cheek Instagram post about her upcoming series “Limetown,” which will debut in October on Facebook Watch.

In something of a surprise, the Television Academy announced that three shows which had previously qualified for the Outstanding Limited Series or Movie categories will not for the 2019 Emmy season.  FX’s “American Horror Story: Apocalypse,” USA’s “The Sinner” and Netflix’s “American Vandal” will now be categorized in the Drama Series (“AHS,” “The Sinner”) and Comedy Series (“Vandal”) categories.

In a statement, the Television Academy noted each series continued story threads and characters from a previous season.
