And let’s not forget the incredible, Oscar snub that is “Aloha.” Oh wait, maybe we should forget that one.

“…one of the first times we showed it was a friends and family screening that [producer] Jim [L. Brooks] had put together.

Ok, so you just read about Cameron Crowe’s rather secret Marvin Gaye biopic set up at Sony under the aegis of super producer Scott Rudin. You also know that’s been in the works for three and a half years and well, hasn’t really gone anywhere (yet, but here’s to hoping). But there is something new and of note in the Variety article about the difficulties of mounting rock biopics (we feel like the trade writes this article once a year — though honestly with good reason as the winds shift and these films take forever), and it’s amazing.

Guess who’s back in town, all growed up and about get all dark in a thriller? The brat from Cameron Crowe’s “Jerry Maguire,” a film that’s still pretty winning and funny, some of its treacly, feel-goodery aside (it was on the movie channels the other day, we watched and surprisingly didn’t wretch).

THR: “Jonathan Lipnicki plans to star in the psychological thriller “The Other Side of Innocence,” which Dev-O-Ron Pictures is offering at the American Film Market.
