And one of the most successful has been “Insidious.” Now, it appears Blumhouse is ready to try its hand at an “Insidious” spinoff.

According to Deadline, Kumail Nanjiani and Mandy Moore have signed on to star in the upcoming film, “Thread: An Insidious Tale.” While it doesn’t appear that it’ll have much overt connection to the main “Insidious” franchise from filmmaker James Wan and star Patrick Wilson, it appears the tie-in comes from the fact that there will be some sort of demonic presence in ‘Thread.’ 

“Thread: An Insidious Tale” tells the story of a married couple who attempt to use a spell to travel back in time to stop the death of their young child.

As video game projects are gathering some steam in Hollywood, New Line Cinema has been pushing forward with a follow-up to 2021’s “Mortal Kombat” reboot with a new sequel. And much of the surviving characters return in the next film alongside the new incarnation of fan-favorite Johnny Cage, as teased at the end of the first installment. Marvel Studios is fleshing out multiple new characters thanks to their shows on Disney+, and with “Moon Knight” coming to an end this week, there are some interesting tidbits about two Marvel characters that were originally planned to show up that ultimately didn’t make the cut.

Head writer and executive producer Jeremey Slater revealed to the House of R podcast (Listen below) that the Marvel Studios series nearly featured “Hawkeye” character Maya Lopez/Echo as a love interest before they ultimately settled on the new character Layla El-Faouly, a surrogate for Marlene Alraune.
