‘Green Hornet’ Star Jay Chou To Join Vin Diesel In ‘xXx 4’

Vin Diesel’s character Xander Cage is coming back, once again. A little more than a year ago, we heard that Diesel and his people were working on “xXx 4,” but since then, it’s been quiet. Now, we have confirmation that “xXx 4” is indeed in the works, directed by the previous film’s helmer DJ Caruso, and we know who’s going to star opposite Diesel in the film.

Oh, Yeah, That Movie’s Coming Out: First Teaser Poster For ‘Green Hornet’

With decidedly lukewarm responses to the trailer, and bad buzz building about the project, Sony have been playing things pretty quietly on “The Green Hornet” front. But with the film’s release now only three months away, it looks like the marketing campaign is gearing up again, with the debut of a teaser poster for the film.

It’s trying to use the iconic Black Beauty car and an updated version of the symbol, sidelining stars Seth Rogen and Jay Chou, but we’re just not sure that either mean anything to anyone these days.

New Trailer & Official Photos Of Michel Gondry’s ‘The Green Hornet’

We’ve seen glimpses, poorly shot set photos here and there, of Michel Gondry’s “The Green Hornet” starring Seth Rogen, but thanks to Yahoo we now have our first two official photos from the film.

Both photos obviously feature Rogen as the Hornet hero and Jay Chou as his sidekick, Kato.

“The Green Hornet” was written by Rogen and longtime collaborator Evan Goldberg (they penned “Superbad”) and also co-stars Cameron Diaz, Edward James Olmos, Tom Wilkinson, Tony-Award nominated David Harbour, Edward Furlong, and Christoph Waltz (“Inglourious Basterds”) as the villain.

Nic Cage Left ‘The Green Hornet’ Because Villain Character Was Underdeveloped?

Nicolas Cage sure chose a funny time to be particular and fussy about his roles.

Was it working with Werner Herzog that did it because it’s not like his track record with choosing roles has been spectacular this decade outside of things like “Adaptation,” “Matchstick Men,” and maybe “The Weather Man,” (that’s still like 3 out of 21-s0me projects).

Apparently he has no qualms about working on “National Treasure” McFranchises but backed out of working with Michel Gondry on “The Green Hornet” that Seth Rogen wrote because he felt the villain character he was in talks to play was underdeveloped and shooting was occurring so soon, they just didn’t have time to flesh out the role.

Christoph Waltz Is ‘The Green Hornet’s Villain

Weird. We did not see this coming, but we suppose the actor is hot and in-demand (plus the filmmakers had started shooting and needed to cast someone quickly). Last week Nicolas Cage dropped out, or couldn’t come to an agreement with the studio to star as the villain in Michel Gondry and Seth Rogen’s “The Green Hornet,” co-written by Rogen and Evan Goldberg (but presumably gone through a ton of rewrites and they admitted they wrote different versions for different potential actor abilities).

Nicolas Cage Won’t Play Villain In ‘The Green Hornet’

Did it concern fans of “The Green Hornet” at all that in the last week Nicolas Cage has signed on for two new projects, one, a 3D revenge actioner called, “Drive Angry,” and another, an underground vigilante revenge film (gee, original) called, ‘The Hungry Rabbit Jumps“?

Should it have? (We alluded to this a bit this morning, because it seemed obvious where this was heading).

Well, apparently Cage already starred in his requisite, “indie” or “creative” picture of the year during Werner Herzog’s “Bad Lieutenant,” because the actor has dropped out of Michel Gondry and Seth Rogen’s take on “The Green Hornet” which started shooting last week with Cameron Diaz and Jay Chou in Los Angeles.

‘The Green Hornet’ Pushed Back To December 2010

Despite just casting its Kato (Taiwanese musician/ singer/actor Jay Chou) after what seemed like an exhaustive search and also zeroing in on a villain (Nicolas Cage, who we last heard was in talks), the release date on Michel Gondry and Seth Rogen‘s “The Green Hornet” has been pushed back an additional five months according to Coming Soon, who found the new date at Box-Office Mojo.
