With all the controversy surrounding Roseanne Barr’s Twitter account in recent weeks, we’ve completely forgotten to see what type of garba…err…well-educated thoughts actor James Woods has been tweeting. Well, considering yesterday was Independence Day, and as one of the biggest self-proclaimed patriots, Woods went on yet another antagonistic Twitter spree, and it resulted in some professional backlash from his own agent.

Even though we don’t think much of the idea of attempting to remake Sam Peckinpah’s ultimate and still controversial statement on masculinity and sexuality “Straw Dogs,” it does appear that director Rod Lurie isn’t toning down the material in the slightest.

Speaking to Collider at the Saturn Awards he reveals that while the blogosphere has been skeptical about how his film will stack up against the original, they will be in for a surprise: “…I keep reading blogs from people saying it’s going to be far less violent than the 1971 film [or that] the rape scene will be watered down.

– Top Scandinavian character actor Stellan Skarsgård (or “that Irish guy,” to Seth Rogen and James Franco…) revealed to Swedish news agency TT Spektra that he’s joined the cast of Marvel adaptation “Thor.” Skarsgård, whose son, “True Blood” star Alexander Skarsgård, screen-tested for the lead role, is playing an unknown role, although, unlike some of his co-stars, he does appear to have insisted on reading the script at least, telling the news agency “They wanted me to sign without reading the script.

A handful of new images from Martin Scorsese’ “Shutter Island” starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley and Michelle Williams has been found. [MovieGod]

James Woods, Dominic Purcell and Willa Holland have joined the cast of the “Straw Dogs” remake. The trio join James Marsden, Kate Bosworth and Alexandar Skarsgard who will respectively play the screenwriter protagonist, his wife and his wife’s ex-boyfriend. [Variety]

LOL; David Zucker Says ‘American Carol’ Is More Politicized Than ‘JFK’ Was

Granted, we haven’t seen David Zucker’s (“Airplane!”) new left wing satire film that sends up Michael Moore and “bleeding heart liberals,” “An American Carol,” but god, really, does anyone need to? It looks like a fucking joke. A farce of a film and Zucker used to be involved in some wonderfully silly films back in the day (the “Airplane!” series and “Top Secret,” still rule, especially the latter). But my lord, this film looks beyond pathetic (it hasn’t even screened for critics and has a LOL-worthy N/A rating on Rotten Tomatoes cause the publicists are keeping it away from people with a half a brain (critics) and no one’s going to bother seeing it this weekend anyhow.
