Vertical Entertainment has released the official trailer for their upcoming crime thriller, “Body Brokers.” The film stars Jack Kilmer (“The Nice Guys,” “Hala”) as Utah, a young junkie who finds himself roaming the rustic highways of Ohio alongside his partner Opal, played by Alice Englert (recently seen in Netflix’s “Ratched”).

It opens with a prayer, and then cuts to an orgasm – an awfully efficient illustration of the contradictions in its protagonist’s life. Her name is “Hala,” she’s a high school senior, and while an honest portrait of a genuine teenager is rare enough, I’m not sure we’ve ever seen a movie like this about a Muslim teen. But Minhal Baig’s tender coming-of-age drama isn’t just a matter of novelty or even representation (though it is fascinating to observe the logistics of just going about a day: wrapping her head, changing for gym class in a stall, etc.).

“Josie,” the incomprehensibly stupid new movie from director Eric England (“Contracted”), features a scene wherein Dylan McDermott asks a turtle how it’s doin’. Later, beloved character actor Kurt Fuller calls a turtle a “goddamned idiot” and further exclaims, “you stupid fucking turtle!” Sophie Turner’s titular character, on the other hand, thinks turtles are “so cute.” “Josie” is at its best when its characters are voicing their opinions on turtles.

“Everyone knows everyone in Huntsville” begins the synopsis of “Josie,” the new thriller starring Sophie Turner. That, of course, is not true of the titular character who mysteriously arrives in town. “The past never dies” warns the trailer, suggesting the dark things ahead.

Turner, known for playing Sansa Stark in “Game of Thrones,” has had a busy last couple of years. Outside of the HBO show she is returning as Jean Grey in the upcoming “X-Men: Dark Phoenix.
