You could argue that, even with three previous films (including one reboot), that we have yet to see a comic book accurate “Hellboy” film. That doesn’t mean the previous ones are terrible–there is serious love for Guillermo del Toro’s first two–but it looks like “Hellboy: The Crooked Man” might be our first attempt at what a comic book-accurate ‘Hellboy’ film would look like.

As seen in the trailer, “Hellboy: The Crooked Man” takes place in the ‘50s and follows the story of the BPRD as they’re tasked with taking on a supernatural evil known as the Crooked Man.

Hollywood has tried a couple of different paths for the ‘Hellboy’ franchise. When Guillermo del Toro was involved, the franchise was less horror and more fantasy, showing off del Toro’s penchant for creating memorable creatures. Then, back in 2019, with Neil Marshall behind the camera and David Harbour in the lead role, the film became an R-rated spectacle with huge effects and lots of lore.

Neil Marshall‘s 2019 “Hellboy” reboot with David Harbour was an unmitigated disaster on every level. So where does the franchise go from here? Apparently, with Millennium Media‘s fast and cheap approach to filmmaking. And Millennium has their new Hellboy for their upcoming reboot, “The Crooked Man,” and no, it’s not a name like Harbour or Ron Perlman.

The legacy of author Tom Clancy‘s famous spy, espionage, and military-science thriller novels is such his name is in the title of Michael B. Jordan‘s latest film, “Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse.” Clancy, of course, is the author behind the books adapted for such famous movies like “The Hunt for Red October” (1984), “Patriot Games” (1987), “Clear and Present Danger” (1989), and “The Sum of All Fears” (1991).
