Bella Thorne has become the unexpected bearer of Halloween treats for genre fans this season. The actress stars in the horror comedy “The Babysitter“ which hits Netflix today, and in just a couple of weeks she’ll be telling audiences to “Keep Watching.”

Co-starring Natalie Martinez, Chandler Riggs, Leigh Whannell and Ioan Gruffudd, and directed by Sean Carter, the film brings a found-footage/POV twist to your standard invasion movie.

Take this one with a heaping dose of salt, if anything this is a studio wish-list story and the actors a) may not have been contacted yet and b) might not even be interested.

Ioan Gruffudd has done a lot of interesting films, and even been a part of some interesting ensembles, but we’re not going to go out on a limb and say he’s anything but boring as hell. As Reed Richards, the leader of the superteam in “Fantastic Four” and “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer,” he was dry, dull, and most importantly, sexless, which is a bummer when playing someone who has to be exciting enough to be Jessica Alba’s dream guy.

There’s not many directors you could rightfully call “eclectic,” but Paul Verhoeven fits right in. With his collection of ultra-violent genre pics like “Robocop” and “Starship Troopers,” the defining sexual thriller of the 90s “Basic Instinct,” and most recently the World War II spy thriller “Black Book,” not to mention the infamous “Showgirls,” its not surprising to see the Dutch director delving into video games for his next work. Verhoeven dropped a few hints in an interview with MTV’s Josh Horowitz, but refused to name the game outright.

‘Fantastic Four’ Franchise To Get The Reboot?

Even indiscriminate halfwit nerds could tell you that the “Fantastic Four” film franchise directed by Tim Story was terrible (Ok, most of them anyhow, there’s always an apologist somewhere, Harry Knowles?). The cast was subpar (Jessica Alba and Ioan Gruffudd in particular) and the jokes were painfully corny and unfunny. The special effects weren’t amazing either.

But Hollywood’s motto with comic book franchise is: if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again, the conventional wisdom being there is a ton of money to be made somewhere.
