Critics might have found fault with Shondra Rhimes‘ admittedly bloated Anna Delvey miniseries “Inventing Anna,” but after early screenings, it was obvious to any member of the media it was going to be a smash. That prediction has easily come to pass with the limited series landing at the top spot of the streaming service the entire weekend. There are two reasons for its buzz-worthy success: Delvey’s own unbelievable story and, most notably, the performance of Emmy-winner Julia Garner as New York’s most notorious scammer.

After striking gold with period drama “Bridgerton” in a $100+ million deal with Netflix, Shonda Rhimes’ Shondaland has debuted its latest bid for streaming success: “Inventing Anna.” Based on the too–good–to–be–true story, “Inventing Anna” draws inspiration from the work of journalist Jessica Pressler, whose article “Maybe She Had So Much Money She Just Lost Track of It” chronicled the exploits of Anna Delvey, a young Russian woman who successfully posed as a German heiress, conning New York’s elite out of thousands of dollars worth of clothes, shoes, vacations, and private jets.

There’s no shortage of exciting television shows released this February, kicking things off strong with the much-anticipated miniseries “Pam & Tommy” starring Lily James and Sebastian Stan as Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee. The month will see the return of Shonda Rhimes, two series finales, an off-kilter and unexpected comedy series starring Will Arnett, and science fiction miniseries, which look to be the next big shows to dominate the discourse.
