Quentin Tarantino has written dozens of memorable characters throughout his career. What would “Pulp Fiction” be without Vincent Vega? Would “Kill Bill” be nearly as good without The Bride? But for the Oscar-winner there is one character that stands out among the others as the most fun character to write: Christoph Waltz‘s despicable Hans Landa from “Inglourious Basterds.”

While speaking with Empire magazine, Tarantino said Landa was the most fun he’s ever had writing a character.

But buried within that slog of stuff we’ve mostly already seen is another shot of Brad Pitt as Lt. Aldo Raine, the hillbilly leader of the Jewish soldiers in Quentin Tarantino’s sure-to-be campy and over-the-top WWII saga “Inglourious Basterds.”

“It takes place in WWII, but I’m not sure it’s about WWII,” Pitt said, chuckling to himself on Charlie Rose late last year (and showing off the accent before the trailers came out).

Instead he’s chosen to work with longtime collaborator and “Cinema Paradiso” director Giuseppe Tornatore once again on his new film, “Baaria – La porta del vento.” And it stands to figure, Morricone has written the music for every Tornatore feature aside from his 1986 debut, “Il Camorrista”

Morricone’s site is in Italian, but the gist of it says that because of his obligations to Tornatore, “the Maestro has had to renounce writing of the sonorous column [music] of the new Quentin Tarantino film.”

This shouldn’t be entirely surprising since Morricone already said last year that he would write the music, but added the caveats that he might not be able to do it all and he certainly wouldn’t be rushed.

Recent set photos from Paris, where ‘Basterds’ is now shooting, have revealed faux vintage movie posters for the character Bridget von Hammersmark who’s played by Diane Kruger (photos of her have already surfaced). Kruger’s Hammersmark is a popular film star in Nazi Germany, but she’s also an Allied spy, but it’s great to see the backstory they’ve created for her.

However, according to Variety, he may not do all of it because of time constraints given the director’s rushed schedule to finish in time for Cannes. Clearly the notoriously picky composer will not be rushed.

According to Tarantino Archives, Roth directed what is known in the “Inglourious Basterds,” screenplay as “Nation’s Pride,” a film-within-the-film propaganda piece that stars Frederick Zoller (German actor Daniel Brühl) — a young, handsome German war-hero whose sharp-shooting skills are depicted and lionized in the film for furthering Nazi doctrine and honor (pictures of which have made it onto the web, they’re underwhelming).
