The main cast of Jim Jarmusch‘s first film since 2019’s “The Dead Don’t Die” has been revealed, and what a cast it is. Variety reports that Adam Driver, Mayim Bialik, Jarmusch regular Tom Waits, Charlotte Rampling, Indya Moore, and Luka Sabbat join Cate Blanchett and Vicky Krieps on “Father Mother Sister Brother.”  Jarmusch has already wrapped shooting, with post-production underway in NYC, so expect the film to be ready for a premiere later this year.

Following his detour back into horror with the recently released “Malignant,” filmmaker James Wan is back as the director on “Aquaman & The Lost Kingdom.” Filming on the follow-up to the billion-dollar hit has been underway in the United Kingdom. The returning cast includes Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Orm, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, and Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus.

“Escape Room: Tournament of Champions” is a tricky sequel, starting with gauging just how successful it truly is. Like with the 2019 original, “Escape Room,” its hand-holding horror can be nifty and surprising, but it’s even less of a challenge to forget about as soon as it’s over.

The biggest mistake from returning director Adam Robitel and his fleet of writers, the true game-makers of this series, is in stepping away from the variety of the first film.

And that’s because, while you weren’t paying attention, “Escape Room” was made for $9 million and grossed $155.7 million worldwide, which is a lot of profit.

Universal Pictures’ “Queen & Slim” now has a high profile opening for a potential awards season run. The Melina Matsoukas directed feature will kick off the 2019 AFI Fest on Thursday, Nov. 14 before opening nationwide on Wednesday, Nov. 27. Matsoukas is an American Film Institute graduate.

It goes without saying that the first season of “Pose” made history.  The FX series was the first narrative television program on cable TV to primarily feature transgender actors and, most importantly, a predominantly LGBTQ PoC cast.  There have been primarily gay programs on premium and ad-based cable networks in the past such as “Queer as Folk,” “The L Word” and “Noah’s Arc,” but nothing as diverse and inclusive as “Pose.”   Created by Steven Canals, Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk,  the program was set at the tail end of the ’80s when New York City’s ballroom scene was jumping and the AIDS crisis cast a deathly shadow over the entire gay community.
