Speaking of, Steve Pink, the director of “Hot Tub Time Machine,” is now attached to direct the Brian Charles Frank ensemble comedy “Werewolves Of Reseda.” Pink, known for writing “High Fidelity” won’t be penning this one. Instead, according to /Film, though honestly their sourcing here reads odd, and they’re not trumping it as an original report either, Brian Frank is penning this story which is vaguely dubbed as a ensemble wish-fulfillment R-rated comedy (like “The Hangover”) with a horror twist.

Box Office: ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ Flies To The Top With $43 Million

DreamWorks’ “How to Train Your Dragon” rode a wave of good reviews and 3D mania (what is this, the ’50s?) to bring in a solid $ 43.3 million this weekend. Its per-screen average of $10,678 isn’t too shabby either. William Castle would be so proud. We’re almost in April, and only three non-3D films have held the top spot so far in 2010: “Valentine’s Day,” “Shutter Island,” and “Dear John.” However, unlike “Alice in Wonderland” (which likely kept “Dragon” from even higher numbers), at least the Dreamworks film is about more than just wacky visuals.

Disney’s money train will start to slow this weekend as “Alice In Wonderland” will be forced to give up some of its 3D and IMAX screens to Dreamwork’s animated adventure “How To Train Your Dragon.” Expect a very healthy opening for the film, which surprisingly has been enjoying much stronger reviews than Tim Burton’s blockbuster. “Hot Tub Time Machine” has been testing very well and should be able to draw a sizable older audience looking for a laugh this weekend.

We’re the first to admit that we’re definitely anticipating “Hot Tub Time Machine” more than we thought we’d ever be. On paper, it sounds like the dumbest movie ever, okay, even in execution it’s probably the dumbest movie ever, but goddamn if we haven’t been chuckling to the trailers and clips that have hit the web in the lead up to the film’s March 26th release date.

As you probably know by now, the film follows four dudes (John Cusack, Rob Corddry, Craig Robinson & Clark Duke) who are zapped back to the ’80s thanks to a wacky hot tub.

New Red-Band ‘Hot Tub Time Machine’ Features Dick Jokes, Dick Jokes, And Also Some Dick Jokes

After “The Hangover” became one of the biggest grossing comedies of all time last summer, every studio is going to be chasing the R-rated comedy dollar, even more so than following the success of Judd Apatow’s movies.

One of the first out the gate is “Hot Tub Time Machine,” from “Accepted” director Steve Pink (don’t run immediately, he also co-wrote the great “Grosse Pointe Blank”), which stars John Cusack, Rob Corddry, Craig Robinson and Clark Duke as four friends — well, to be accurate, one guy, his two best friends and his little brother (Duke) — who are accidentally transported back to 1986 by the titular fourth dimensional jacuzzi.

Alright, you’ve already seen our Most Anticipated Films of 2010 feature our Least Anticipated Films of 2010 feature and now we have the Potentially Decent Escapist Entertainment Films (Or Mildly Interesting Indie Ones) Of 2010.

It should be no surprise to you by now what type of film we generally cherish (non-pandering intelligent cinema), which ones we typically loathe (lowest common denominator chum meant to plop popcorn munchers in seats) and which ones we treat with suspicion until otherwise verified as something being other than slightly above reproach.

Clash of the Trailers: ‘Titans’ Vs. ‘Hot Tub Time Machine’

Studios are super-keen to get trailers for their big 2010 movies in front of “Avatar,” and we’ve already seen premieres for “Robin Hood,” “Alice in Wonderland” and “Iron Man 2” in the last few days, and a couple more hit last night.

Swords-and-sandals re-make “Clash of the Titans” has a second, longer trailer (although the middle section is pretty much the teaser in its entirety), and gives a little context to the action.

First Look: Mickey Rourke In ‘The Expendables,’ R-Rated ‘Hot Tub Time Machine’ Trailer Arrives

A host of new official images from Sylvester Stallone’s “The Expendables” have been unveiled via the film’s official blog. Most of these aren’t cheap set-shots and actually look like production stills.

The pictures show various members of the ‘Expendables’ in action including Jason Statham, Jet Li and Eric Roberts holding an unidentified female hostage. The new pics also give us our first look at Mickey Rourke in the all-star action B-movie and it appears his role is that of a tattoo artist giving Stallone some new ink.
