Fans looking for a redo of “How I Met Your Mother’s” divisive series finale will get another shot with the upcoming spin-off “How I Met Your Father.” The new trailer offers a gender-swapped version of HIMYM, with Hilary Duff’s (“Younger”) Sophie telling her son the story of how she met his father.

This Oscar season, a lot has been made about Hollywood’s poetic license when it comes to biopics. With “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “Green Book” being the prime examples of studios’ willingness to alter events and real-life people to better suit the narrative that is trying to be put forth. That being said, hold on to your hot takes about those two films for a little while longer because we have the biggest offender of them all, “The Haunting of Sharon Tate.”

In a new trailer for “The Haunting of Sharon Tate,” we see perhaps the worst-case example of what happens when Hollywood decides to take inspiration from real-life tragedy to suit a film structure that is sure to get audience attention.

In 2018, Quentin Tarantino came under fire when the sister of deceased star Sharon Tate was upset that the filmmaker planned on releasing his film “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” on the 50th anniversary of Tate’s murder at the hands of the Manson Family (who are featured in the director’s film). Tarantino and Sony pushed the release date back, avoiding controversy. As messed up as some felt the release date was, nothing Tarantino can do would come close to the offensive nature of the upcoming film “The Haunting of Sharon Tate.”

US Weekly premiered the first trailer from the film, which stars former child star Hilary Duff as the titular Tate.

Ok, this has to be one of the strangest sources for movie news we’ve had in a while, but buried in a recent profile by The Globe And Mail of hockey player Mike Comrie, and thanks to the eagle eyes of Latino Review, it was revealed that among the contents of his kitchen table of late was a script with the title “Spider-Man.”

Of course, speculation is high, but facts are minimal at this point except that lines were highlighted in yellow for a character simply called “girl.” Is Comrie’s wife, Hilary Duff, eyeing a leading lady role in Marc Webb’s film?

What’s wrong with this picture? Maybe the fact that fucking Hilary Duff and this nobody Kevin Zegers are supposed to star in a remake of Arthur Penn’s 1967 classic, “Bonnie & Clyde.”

According to the Hollywood Reporter, this heresy, this impending sign of the apocalypse is true. Or at least both of these two jokers are in negotiations to play the roles.

Look, do what you have to do, Hollywood, but fucking call it something else.

Hilary Duff Tries To ‘Stay Cool’ With The Polish Brothers

Hilary Duff has joined the cast of “Stay Cool” which already includes Winona Ryder, Mark Polish, Sean Astin, Chevy Chase and Jon Cryer. The film is going to be directed by the Polish Brothers who directed the very excellent 1999 film “Twin Falls Idaho” and the equally remarkable 2003 fantasia, “Northfork.” Too bad “The Astronaut Farmer” looked rather terrible. The project is said to be a “knowing-your-age comedy,” chronicling a writer (Polish) forced to finally face his high school crush (Ryder) when making a commencement address to graduating seniors.

When Solemn Iraq War Films Fail To Connect Is The Only Alternative Wild & Absurd Satire? John Cusak Seems To Think So

This “War, Inc.” trailer is like, wtf?? John Cusak co-wrote this and one has to take pause and seriously wonder after watching this: was it written as a resigned throw-his-hands-up in the air response to audiences’ complete apathy for his 2007 war film, “Grace Is Gone”? Or has he just lost his mind? Hilary Duff also stars in this thing as a Britney-like pop tart. This thing has to be seen to be believed.

The synopsis is basically this: Set in the future, when the desert country of Turagistan is torn by a riot after a private corporation, owned by the former US president has taken over the whole state (a not-so-subtle Haliburton dig), John Cusack plays the role of a hit man hired by the corporation’s head to kill the CEO of their competitors.

– Ok, we love Lily Allen, but the idea of the brit-tart making her screen acting debut in a spoof of Jane Austen’s “Pride And Prejudice” sounds like a recipe for disaster. Allen will play Lydia Bennett and Stephen Fry will play her father.[BBC]
– Nirvana’s Unplugged in New York, you might of heard of it – it was on MTV once – is finally coming to DVD November 20. The disc will feature the entirely unedited 66-minute concert, including two songs that never aired, but were on the CD (“Polly” and the Meat Puppets’ “Oh Me”) , plus previously unreleased rehearsal and documentary footage.
