One of the great character actors in movies, the legendarily laconic and sad-eyed Harry Dean Stanton passed away this weekend at the age of 91. He possessed the recognizable hound dog face the average moviegoer might recognize as “that guy.” For us cinephiles we knew him as a kind of cinematic legend, like a Redwood tree that would never fall. Even in his 90s, Stanton didn’t look like he was ever slowing down.

Quite frankly, it would be strange if the marketing for “Twin Peaks” had been anything but enigmatic. The show, which first aired in 1990, was a beautifully enigmatic piece of work from David Lynch, one of our most enigmatic filmmakers, so it’s appropriate that the revival of the show on Showtime has been shrouded in secrecy for the most part.

But with the first new episodes a little over two weeks away, things are likely to change in the coming days, and after a teaser video showed us the locations of the show last week, the first faces of returning cast members have been revealed in another Showtime promo.
