Despite many of the winners waiting to show up to Staples, er, Crypto.com Arena for the main ceremony, three Oscar nominees, Billie Eilish, Finneas, and Ludwig Göransson took home big Grammy wins in the pre-ceremony across the street at the Peacock Theater. Oh, and The Beatles won a Grammy in 2024 for Best Music Video while Kylie Minogue won her second Grammy for “Padam Padam” in the Pop Dance Recording category.

In what we believe is a first for the Grammy Awards, a song nominated for the Song Written for Visual Media category has won before the project was ever released. Billie Eilish and Finneas took the Grammy for “No Time To Die” which is now scheduled for release in the U.S. on Oct. 8, 2021.

You can find out all of the major category winners here, but here’s a look at some of the best and worst moments of the telecast.

Best: Production Design of “Havana”
Camila Cabello’s “Havanna” feels like it’s been out forever (August 2017 qualifies thanks to Grammy rules) but Ricky Martin doing a cameo and some sick dancers helped freshen it up a bit.

Perhaps considering the political and social justice tone of the evening the artists commandeered it to be about looking forward and not to the past. That’s a good thing.

Unfortunately, the winners were sadly predictable in may respects. Too few won too many awards (in this case Bruno Mars and Kendrick Lamar) and the artist who would have been the most generic pick possible took home the major honors (Mars).
