These seem to be ideas encapsulated by the upcoming second season of AMC’s “The Terror,” this one titled “Infamy” and focusing on the notorious Japanese internment camps that popped up around America during World War II.

That narration opens Laika’s latest stop-motion marvel, and you won’t struggle to heed its warnings with a film this beautifully and lovingly crafted. A fable set in feudal Japan, “Kubo and the Two Strings” is as much about the magic of storytelling as it is about a boy growing up as he embarks on an epic quest.

It was with good intentions that screenwriter Simon Pegg decided to make Sulu gay in the upcoming “Star Trek Beyond,” giving John Cho‘s character a partner and daughter. It was a move made to honor the legacy of George Takei, the original Sulu, who also had to hide his sexual orientation to navigate a more conservative era in Hollywood. However, Takei wasn’t consulted on the decision, and while it’s glad to see progress made, he’s not exactly pleased to see Sulu be the face of that change.
