The Television Academy handed out its first set of Creative Arts Emmy Awards for 2018 on Saturday night and history was made. For the first time, African-Americans won every Guest Actor Emmy. Ron Cephas Jones took Guest Actor in a Drama Series for “This Is Us” (he won Supporting Actor last year), Katt Williams won Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for “Atlanta,” Tiffany Haddish won Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for hosting “Saturday Night Live” and Samira Wiley was honored in the Guest Actress in a Drama Series category for “The Handmaid’s Tale.”

We’re still stunned “Twin Peaks” and “The Looming Tower” weren’t nominated, but Emmy voters have stage taste sometimes.  Instead, it looks like there is zero competition for “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story” which should win this category in a cakewalk. [Posted July 17]
