For the previous Congress, the Senator received a 0 from the Human Rights Campaign’s scorecard for supporting LGBTQ rights in Congress. Perhaps this is an extreme example, but it points to a larger issue. Personal exposure to marginalized communities can help humanize them, but this acceptance is not sufficient to dismantle the systems of oppression and discrimination holding them down.

and extremely curated life of filmmaker Wes Anderson has always
resembled a mosaic of high-browed great taste, be it music, sartorial style, costumes,
food, fashionable friends, literary discrimination, culture and the various
arts. Maybe not unlike an eclectic and well-curated edition of the New Yorker,
a magazine Anderson has been vocally fond of and enthusiastic about for years.
So, for his latest film, “The French Dispatch,” Anderson is using the venerable
New York cultural magazine as a jumping point to explore what seems to be a potpourri
of disparate vignettes and stories.

So, when he’s not on screen dazzling audiences, like in the upcoming “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” he’s likely traveling around the world promoting conservation and being his environmentalist self.

And at this year’s Cannes, it was just announced that DiCaprio is bringing a brand-new documentary to the festival for a special screening, titled “And We Go Green.” But this isn’t the same type of doc that the actor produced in 2016, titled “Before the Flood.” No, the new doc takes a look at the climate change issue by focusing on electric race cars that are part of Formula E.

Murray Abraham, Bob Balaban, Bryan Cranston, Greta Gerwig, Jeff Goldblum, Akira Ito, Scarlett Johansson, Harvey Keitel, Bill Murray, Kunichi Nomura, Edward Norton, Yoko Ono, Koyu Rankin, Liev Schreiber, Tilda Swinton, Akira Takayama and Frank Wood, all lend their voices to what is hopefully another winning picture from the filmmaker.

And while some manage to transcend this stigma, more often than not the final product is factually lopsided, marred by vanity, or simply not vital. Basically, such films have made this writer a skeptic of celebrity-fronted activism-oriented films.

Let’s be frank. The Toronto Intl. Film Festival has an unfortunate penchant for accepting mediocre films because of their marquee-worthy names and “Henry’s Crime,” is certainly one of those pictures (along with “Passion Play,” and “What’s Wrong With Virginia,” two films that we were duped into seeing only because of the talent involved).

Another hard fact of life we should know well by now: Keanu Reeves is a truly unremarkable actor and should just stick to his action-based instincts that don’t call on the actor to deliver anything outside his extremely limited range.

In April of 2008, Variety reported that Dimension Films bought the rights to the 1986 robot comedy “Short Circuit” — which many believe “Wall-E” stole its design from — starring Steve Guttenberg and Fisher Stevens hilariously playing an Indian man, with eyes towards creating a remake (reboot! remiixxxx!). We swear we wrote about this before, but can’t find it now.

Anywhoo, apparently No.5 is indeed still alive and not disassembled. Today, Variety writes that Dimension films has hired “Robot Chicken” writer, Dan Milano to pen the script.
