The previous episode doubled down on the time the revival spent in our favorite sleepy Washington town, offered an illuminating backstory on Diane (Laura Dern, fabulous as usual) and Bad Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan), and seemed to give viewers the illusion that they had any idea what was going on.

Seems as though David Lynch has been devoting a lot of his creative energies to musical projects rather than film recently, what with his collaboration with Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse on Dark Night of the Soul, to which he contributed autotuned vocals and photographs.
