Jaime King To Star As French Icon Brigitte Bardot?

“Fanboys” director Kyle Newman says he is getting ready to direct a biopic on the French model, Brigitte Bardot, and has conveniently picked his wife Jaime King to star as the iconic fashion model. King’s resume is stacked with huge stinkers, consisting of “My Bloody Valentine,” “Fanboys,” “Pearl Harbor ” and “The Spirit” of late, with her only decent film being 2005’s “Sin City.”

Early in her career Bardot’s sublime body launched her to sex-symbol status, and later supplied her a film career, though later in her life she has become notorious for being fucking crazy, a hardcore animal rights activist and outspoken against interracial marriages, Islam in France and immigration, even going so far as to be convicted five times for “inciting racial hatred.”

This possibly interesting story will most likely fall on its face as King is not the type to carry a film of such scope and Newman has yet to produce anything of notice (he hasn’t really done any features outside of “Fanboys”), though it might be something worth keeping an eye on, as both could end up rising to the occasion.

‘Fanboys’… Whatever

If you’re a guy who lives in your parent’s basement, writes a movie blog, even vaguely resembles the Comic Book store guy’s tumescent mien, and have actually watched one of the ‘Star Wars’ prequels in the last five years by choice, chances are you’ll probably enjoy Kyle Newman’s long-delayed (and for good reason) “Fanboys.” Sure all those pejoratives are like shooting fish in a barrel, but if that’s the case, the obvious jokes and paper-thin story line of this waste of celluloid is akin to using weapons of mass destruction on the same unsuspecting bait.

‘Fanboys’ Soundtrack Details: Chumbawamba, Tag Team, PUSA, Spacehog & Other Forgettable ’90s One-Hit Wonders

Either Mark Mothersbaugh (composer for “Rushmore,” “The Royal Tenebaums”) is losing his touch or we’re getting crotchety-er. It would be easy to assume the latter, but no, sorry, Mothersbaugh’s score to “Fanboys,” is terrible. Sure, it was purposely meant to ape and redo the “Star Wars” music as closely as possible without having John Williams team of lawyers burst down the front door of the music studio, M-16s a-blazing, but we still couldn’t help but be massively disappointed with it.

Kristen Bell Flashes Nerds In ‘Fanboys’ Clip

Geek-chic actress Kristen Bell exposes herself to a very distracted Jay Baruchel in this promotion clip for “Fanboys,” which is finally being released theatrically by the Weinstein Brothers on February 6th after being shelved and undergoing numerous re-shoots since its was shot back in 2006 [ed. in limited release too, apparently only 9 cities are scheduled so far].

The promotional video represents a sad attempt by the producers to excite the legion of sad, basement-dwelling “Star Wars” fans, in the hope that they will come out in enough numbers to make the distribution of this thing worthwhile.

We wanted to subtitle this feature Cockpunching Your Brain Into Next Year: The Films Of 2009 Probably Destined To Make Us Unintentionally Laugh The Most. But you know, we mostly digress, but if you really want to see some of the year’s worst films look no further than what’s coming out this month in January: The year’s dumping ground for unwanted films (and in some cases February, too). Things like “Paul Blart: Mall Cop,” “Outlander,” “Bride Wars,” “Unborn,” “My Bloody Valentine 3-D” all look abysmal and the horror ones in particular look just one step above straight-to-video quality, but you won’t find them on this list because they’ll be out in a week or two, will be discussed or are just too fucking godawful to spend even a sentence on.

Oh and another film that screams ghey, indie-twee film is the loud and clear, “Emo Boy” that just got announced today by The Hollywood Reporter. It’s going to be directed by (ugh) Kyle Newman, the guy who directed the “Star Wars”-obsessives film “Fanboys,” had it taken away from him by the Weinstiens and then given back after much loud nerd protest. It’s based off a comic book and the writer-artist Stephen Edmond is writing the script.

‘Fanboys’ Trailer: Please Stop Making Movies About ‘Star Wars’ For The Love Of God!

The film is basically about different variations on the Comic Book Store guy from the Simpsons and a loser-fest voyage to the holy land mecca of all things nerd: George Lucas’ Skywalker Ranch

Darren Aronofsky Wants To “Reinvent” ‘RoboCop’, Brandon Routh Seems Unsure Of A “Darker” Superman

Darren Aronofsky talks “RoboCop” again. Not saying anything really new, he says it’ll be a “real reinvention.” “Me and David Self are working on the screenplay. He’s a great, great writer and we’re trying to do something new and fresh. We’ll see what happens when the screenplay comes.” Would Peter Weller make a cameo? He remained vague. “I’m a big fan of the original. It still holds up as an amazing film, and I think it’s more just looking at that same type of material in the 21st century and seeing where it leads us.” [Empire]

Brandon Routh talks the next “Superman” movie, but he still doesn’t know much other than what we already know: Warner Bros.

‘Fanboys’ At Comic-Con: Nerd Film With Cancer-Subplot Intact To Appear At Nerd Film Festival

The much belated farcical comedy, “Fanboys,” which follows a group of die-hard “Star Wars” fans as they trek across the country to George Lucas’ Skywalker ranch intending to steal a copy of the then-unreleased “Phantom Menace” so that their cancer stricken compadre will be able to view it before his death will finally be shown in theaters at this years annual loser mecca, Comic-Con in San Diego. This is a big victory for the Kyle Newman film which has led an increasingly difficult life of numerous delays, personal changes, cuts and typical Weinstein Brothers meddling.

All’s Well That Nerd’s Well: ‘Fanboys’ Back In The Hands Of Dorky Director

Maybe, you’ve heard. This is a little old, but we hadn’t quite weighed in (and god knows you were dying for us to do so). “Star Wars” losers everywhere have had recent cause to celebrate (in their parent’s unfinished basements, naturally) their long-awaited victory over the evil empire, the Weinstein Co.

Like us, many of you have been too busy over the past few years living your life to care about a dorky, meta in-joke for “Star Wars” nerds, called “Fanboys.” Set in 1998, the story follows a fanatical group of teenage “Star Wars” disciples, one of whom has the cancer, on a roadtrip across the country to George Lucas’ Skywalker ranch to steal a copy of the then-unreleased “Phantom Menace” so their dying friend can view it before he expires (now that we’ve all seen “Phantom Menace” doesn’t this make the film a total epic tragedy?).
