Julie Delpy Set To Direct French Comedy ‘Skylab’

Julie Delpy is a busy woman. After the recent announcement that she would be filming a New York-set sequel to her directorial debut “2 Days In Paris,” comes news from Comme Au Cinema that she is also set to direct a French language comedy called “Skylab.” This will be her fourth movie as a director – her latest film, “The Countess,” with Daniel Brühl and William Hurt, is yet to come out. Filming will begin in June, for a period of seven weeks.

Joann Sfar’s biopic, “Gainsbourg: Vie Heroic” (or “Serge Gainsbourg: A Life Heroic” hits theaters in France next week (January 20) which means a pay dirt of new content has surfaced including new photos, a trailer that finally has English subtitles (we showed you the French version a few months ago) and reviews are also trickling in from all over (also the film premiered in Paris this week). The trailer is also a bit NSFW, btw.

First Trailer: ‘Serge Gainsbourg: A Life Heroic’ (French-Language Version)

We’ve already revealed to you plenty of images and a simple video teaser from Joann Sfar’s biopic, about musical French icon, “Serge Gainsbourg: Vie Héroïque” (“A Life Heroic”) and today we have a lot more including the first trailer for the film.

Granted, it’s a French-language trailer, but you don’t need to understand the language to figure out the tenor and tone of the biopic.

The cast of this was is pretty stellar.

Video Teaser: Serge Gainsbourg ‘A Heroic Life’ Biopic

Alright, we already gave you a first look at Joann Sfar’s upcoming Gainsbourg biopic, “Vie Heroique” (“A Heroic Life”) starring Eric Elmosnino as Serge Gainsbourg, and Lucy Gordon (who committed suicide earlier this year, RIP) as Jane Birkin and now, a brief video teaser has arrived (former French Supermodel Laetitia Casta also stars as Brigitte Bardot, but she’s not featured in this clip).

There’s been some debate if the film was called, “Je t’Aime Moi Non Plus” — the song that plays in the background here, written by Gainsbourg and sung by the husband and wife duo.

Nice. Everyone really looks the part. Here’s Eric Elmosnino as Serge Gainsbourg, Laetitia Casta as Brigitte Bardot, Lucy Gordon (who committed suicide earlier this year, RIP) as Jane Birkin and the back of Anna Mouglalis as Juliette Gréco in Joann Sfar’s upcoming Gainsbourg biopic, “Vie Heroique” (“A Heroic Life”). Though note, one report said the film was called, “Je t’Aime Moi Non Plus,” but that’s the name of a Birkin song and even though they were married, and Gainsbourg wrote it, it does seem a little odd.

Lucy Gordon Will Play Jane Birkin In Serge Gainsbourg Biopic, ‘Heroique’

Relatively unknown American actress Lucy Gordon (small part in “Spider-Man 3”) will play muse and wife, Jane Birkin in the upcoming biopic of debaucherous French music icon Serge Gainsbourg.

Tentatively titled, “Vie Heroique” (Heroic Life),” the film will be Universal Pictures first foreign language film and will be the directorial debut by French comic book artist Joann Sfar.

Already cast in the film which starts shooting in January is Eric Elmosnino as Gainsbourg, Laetitia Casta as Brigitte Bardot and Mylene Jampanoi as the eccentric singer’s late-life muse, Bambou (deeper casting info here).

Shooting To Begin On Serge Gainsbourg Biopic In January

The Serge Gainsbourg biopic, “Vie Heroique,” will reportedly begin shooting this January in Paris, France. Helming the project is comic-book artist Joann Sfar, who will be making his directorial debut. We reported on the casting for the film back in September, but the trades has been sluggish with news and have just now reacted to the biopic.

The project will document the life of hard-living French music legend, Serge Gainsbourg, who passed away in 1991.

A few weeks ago, we delved in deep on the upcoming Serge Gainsbourg biopic, “ “Serge Gainsbourg: A Heroic Life” (“Vie Héroïque”), being directed by French comic book artist, Joann Sfar, starring relatively newcomer Eric Elmosnino as everyone’s favorite debauched French singer/pervert and former French supermodel Laetitia Casta has as Brigitte Bardot among many others (casting for Jane Birkin – Gainsbourg’s second wife – and famous figures he worked with, Anna Karina, Catherine Deneuve, etc., have not been announced yet).

Casting For Serge Gainsbourg ‘Heroic Life’ Film ‘Biopic’ Falling Into Place; Gonzales Doing Some Music

The casting pieces for the long-gestating biopic of notorious French louche and debonair poet of scuzzy panache, Serge Gainsbourg are nicely falling into place. Earlier this Spring, details on the biopic, titled “Serge Gainsbourg: A Heroic Life” (“Vie Héroïque”) came out, but not a lot of North American outlets (including, shamelessly, us) seemed to notice (perhaps cause there wasn’t a ton to report). Directing the film is Joann Sfar, a well-known French comic-book artist, and playing the lead is not, terribly well-known actor Eric Elmosnino.
