It’s strange for an Emmy honor to have been handed out for almost 20 years and still be under the radar but that’s pretty much the case for the Outstanding Structured Reality Program category. Part of the lack of attention is because it’s often been handed out during the Creative Arts Emmys ceremonies and so many repetitive winners. Netflix’s “Queer Eye” has won the past two years and ABC’s “Shark Tank” won four straight previously.

The Directors Guild of America were set to reveal all of their 2020 television nominees today, but sometimes clerical error gets in the way. The DGA informed members last week that Jill Soloway‘s work on the “Transparent” finale was omitted from the initial ballot. A new ballot was sent out and now the Comedy Series, Dramatic Series and Variety/Talk/News/Sports – Specials categories will be announced on Friday. An odd event considering the main film nominees are revealed tomorrow.

Friday evening Disney + took the streaming world by storm with its two-hour presentation at D23 Expo, and it was the first moment the sheer amount of IP’s the Mouse owns genuinely sunk in. Everything from Marvel, to Star Wars, to The Muppets, even The Simpson’s theme graced us with its presence while waiting for the panel to begin – which admittedly still needs an adjustment period.

ANAHEIM – Sitting through the D23 Expo’s 90-minute session previewing Disney Plus, the Walt Disney Company’s new streaming service, it was hard not to be stuck with just how much content it was launching with. It’s one thing to hear a report of Disney CEO Bob Iger discussing it on a conference call with investors or to see news reports on new projects over time, but in person is something else.
