The film is set at an abandoned family entertainment center and stars Josh Hutcherson as Mike Schmidt, a security guard coping with past traumas while accepting a graveyard shift at the FEC, where he discovers that the facility’s animatronic creatures come to life and kill anyone who is on the grounds after midnight.

Over the course of nine video games, the franchise has grown to become one of the biggest in the industry and has accumulated a ton of fans who go out and buy all the toys, tie-in novels, and various other merchandise. It was only a matter of time before a film was made, and that’s exactly what Blumhouse is doing.

If you’re a fan of listening to scores as works on their own (as many film fans are known to do), divorced of the imagery, the music is still able to evoke emotion and excitement. And in the case of composer Ben Lovett’s score for “The Wind,” the music alone is enough to scare the crap out of you, without the need to see director Emma Tammi’s newest film.

Their long, grim faces, the film’s chilly color palette, and a dead baby tell viewers everything they need to know about this brutal and unforgiving world. Directed by Emma Tammi, “The Wind” presents a bleak and atmospheric slow-burn horror story with a western flavor.
